Elemental Overload Keystone - Wow

So while making a build using this keystone, i originally planned on making either a deadeye or scion sparker, then eventually decided on an emberwake firestorm chieftan.

Then i read the flavour text.
Well, this just killed elemental resolute technique builds quite a bit. But on the flip side, you will be killing yourself with reflect alot more.

The wording suggests to me this won't work with totems/traps/mines which makes me a sad panda.

Also, won't this pigeonhole phys/chaos into crit to stay competitive with elemental? What about chaos skills that cannot crit (Essence Drain, Poison Arrow)?

This does work with totems-indirectly. A totem can not proc the crit that counts for this to trigger, but if you proc it, the totems get the 40% more damage for 8 seconds. Personally, I use a 4 link lightning orb to get this to proc, linked with cast curse on hit (flammability) and reduced mana cost. I'm using a dual totem summoner, so I don't do any damage with the lightning orb, but since it hits 5 times per second per target it's going through, it is viable. it helps to get some increased crit chance, (got mine procing on roughly 12.5% so still very low) and it will stay up when it matters.

I am not a great player. most of the time, I toss the flame totems and not bother with lightning ball. I really only use it for perandus chests and bosses, but in both cases it will proc the 8 second buff nearly 100% of the time I toss it. (each spark from the lightning orb rolls separately for the crit chance-even if it does no damage from my second totem skill node...) I've tried other skills, like ice spear, but the ball is much better for cursing huge areas-the main reason to use it. having it trigger elemental overload is a bonus.

The totems will not proc the the 8 second increase. They do benefit form your chance to crit, and still crit to proc burning, but no extra crit damage (cause I have elemental overload). the 40% more damage does affect burn damage.
