Game needs Eternals back (and here's why) |Petition|
Lol bitches please.....
This thread turned sour fast. Everybody is entitled to his opinion and to disagree with one another no? And here i thought i would have 4 pages of interesting debate to read, just people flinging poop at one another. meh. I typed out a transcript, Boem.
I think the core point, regarding Eternals being necessary or good for the game, has been pretty sufficiently covered by me (and Anu, and YouTube Chris Wilson) at this point: they're not, because masters. Also some extra reasons. Mirrors irrelevant. The whole Mirror thing is basically a detail, as far as I'm concerned. Not necessarily an unwelcome derail, but still. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. The problem is, however, that in Standard the Eternal "problems" persist because of the mirrors. So effectively, you can still indirectly use the benefits of the Eternal Orbs.

Actually, in Standard the Eternal "problems" persist because items in Standard persist. Including significant numbers of "problem" unique items. Even "problem" flasks.
Legacy items. They're a bitch. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Absolutely. And if GGG means it when they are saying "a lot of players are playing in permanent leagues and we care about them", they sould eventually find a way to deal with that.

" It's quite easy, you want eternals back --> then master have to go. Since this is not going to happen (being a major x-pac and core edition) we could already safely conclude eternal's aren't going to re-appear. Which still doesn't mean we need poo flinging to make our points. Goetz is entitled to his views, while i disagree with them because of aforementioned logic negating it, he can still choose to believe in the need for them just like the OP. Anu pretty much covered the crafting subject with his post though, mid -> semi top tier have never been so easy to craft as a result of the removal of eternal's and the sub-sequentially introduction of masters and their bench crafting mods. Op is just mad he can't complete his top tier craft as a result and is selfishly making this thread for his own personal goal irrelevant of the greater good or the game's future. Which is fine, but i don't have to agree with the premise or the points made in the op. I reckon if i can spot this so easily, so can GGG. To those guys saying you have addressed why they're not needed, have failed to address to main reason that they ARE needed. There is currently one best bow that nearly everyone wants. There is one best sword that nearly everyone wants. Etc, etc. I don't want to beat this to death but you guys are either ignoring it or aren't getting it? Everyone chasing and eventually ending up with the same item is a problem.
And to address you point Boem, if you think this thread is just a butthurt post because I haven't finished the crafts, you're blindly responding without reading or thinking. Read what I ACTUALLY wrote, any reasonable person can't disagree that mass mirroring the same few items is bad for the game. EDIT: Also, that transcript from Chris is quite strange, and I mean this respectfully, but that text makes me feel as if he is out of touch with how the game works and how orbs are actually being used. Especially the part about going through the game with multiple items, and not crafting a rare from scratch... Item level prevents early game rares from being crafted into powerful late game items. You literally need a level 83+ item to make these perfect rares (implying that you've likely already gone through a full item progression). Orbs are also set up to be able to craft from white to six mods, using trans, aug, alt, regal, followed by exalts and master crafting. That is the most common orb to least common so it by far makes the most sense, and it sounds like Chris is saying that is NOT the way you're supposed to do it? Anyone who plays PoE is going to figure out that's the best way so I'm confused. IGN - Xukai Mirror Service - /1046531 Last edited by trav_dawg#1277 on Feb 8, 2016, 9:41:03 PM

That's funny, Char basically pointed exactly the same thing out, and I already addressed it.
But yeah, not sure what to do about legacy rares in Standard. Mirrors do make them more problematic than legacy uniques. But long story short, either pre-Awakening crafts should probably get some kind of wipe or adjustment, directly to the rares themselves, or GGG should just shrug and allow them to stay despite their ridiculousness. True, but you cannot communicate that to the player base (especially those long-term players that own them). So the only real solution I personally see is to make a new permanent league. I can see why they do not want to do that.
The "mirror locks both copies" solution works as well, by removing the possibility to infinitely clone the problematic mirror items, but is not as good. If legacy items persist, rares need to get a buff to bring new items closer to the existing 6T1 items. I do like that solution in terms of good rares getting easier to acquire for the average player, but do not like that solution in terms of power creep. Power creep is the root of lots of balance problems IMHO. I really wonder how things will evolve. So far, I have not seen GGG doing anything for permanent leagues, which is a bit of a shame. I can go to temp leagues once I have finished what I want to do in Standard, but for that, the map drop rates are too low ;). Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.
