Solo or party?

I play solo, because that is what I enjoy. Party play in ARPGs just tend to make things go faster and easier, and PoE is no exception. Maybe if party play was actually harder and more dangerous, I'd give it a go for the challenge and possible fun. :)

Only time I played party was in D3 original inferno. It was basically mandatory to survive. All the aura buffs and DPS multipliers to take out elites let alone Diablo himself about a 15 min fight. I dont know anyone who beat it solo not even Kripp.

Now you know one.
While I'm leveling I'll often times open up a party for others to join if they want, depending on my mood. Once I get to maps it is pretty much solo...except for partying the Lake to top off a level here and there.

Solo player here 99% of the time, might group once in a while to buy a boss kill or something, but other than that...

I love playing with myself! :D
Over the last 3 years I've slowly worked my way from the party-play / trading approach to solo-play / self found.

This hasn't really been a conscious decision or plan just the way it's worked out.
Blasphemous HC-SSF Path of Exile 2 enjoyer.
Solo mostly, only partying with one or two close friends at a time.
I have a pretty solid pc but every time I party up my fps gets destroyed so I'm pretty much forced to solo.
Party play can be fun, but has a lot of drawbacks as well. Put an SRS character together with a CoC discharger and one or two other graphically-intensive toons, and framerate needs to be measured in FPW - frames per week. And good luck having any idea what's happening on the screen, even in those moments when the screen isn't frozen.

Yup this. The engine isn't optimized for group play. For me I only need one discharger in group to feel the frames per week, as you say.
I prefer solo play. I know it is more beneficial in party but unless I am on Skype with my party members it is a disorganized clusterfuck mostly. Only 2 of my close friends play the game and neither of them plays as much as I do nor are they on at the same time. When I do group with them I usually feel like I am carrying them through content and that is really saying something because my characters are weak as hell.
