Another example of something that would have been nice to have handy on the forums at least as a reference since it pops up every now and then
Can we get an official GGG response to the reported in-game stutters since 2.1?

Lockstep stuttering occurs at any point that it doesn't have the data from the server to process the frame. It needs that data, because it's lockstep mode, so it just waits and then catches up when the data has arrived. Unlike predictive, it can't make stuff up.
This happens when there's legitimate internet lag, or too much data for your connection to receive in one frame. It sounds to me like something (or somethings) new in 2.1.0 is sending too much data. We haven't worked out what yet.
Note that almost all of our developers are away over Christmas. There are a few of us triaging problems, but the numbers drop by the day as we approach Christmas. This is a priority as soon as we can work it out. It'll be a lot easier once the senior programming team are back though.
Edit: Also, zero of our staff can reproduce the problem. We believe it exists (yay inbox) but need to find a way to get it to happen to us somehow.

We have a gifting system that occurs when purchasing stuff, but not for gifting things you already own that are spare. There's discussion of enabling it for the Christmas period, though we're making sure our systems for auditing its transactions (to check for RMT use) are mature first.
Or how about a proper response to the curses nerf/rebuff which would have been nice at the time

In a few hours, we will deploy a hotfix that undoes the curse changes in yesterday's hotfix. It will introduce a cap of 75% to the action speed reduction caused by Temporal Chains and to the effects of Enfeeble.
We shouldn't have made such a large balance modification within a challenge league. This new cap solves the exploit case without affecting most other players.
We want people to understand that this change wasn't made as a knee-jerk reaction, it was a balance change that was discussed during the development of 2.1.0 and was omitted from the initial deploy. There are numerous ways that the current curse system is holding us back, so we will review it extensively for 2.2.0 next year.
Edit: this is now deployed.

Yeah lagwin, GGG is very much the epitome of companies that work hard at communicating with, interacting with, and involving their community in the ongoing evolution of the game. This seems like a really big oversight.
I've taken to reading reddit so I don't miss out on bits and pieces, but at the moment we are having to work through a whole slew of subforums and a subreddit in order to gather sometimes important information. Resorting to a 3rd party GGG post tracker for the forums is a bit lame, and then having to manually trawl another 3rd party site is annoying as well.
There isn't any particular technical reason why GGG posts (be they formal or not) can't be collated and added to the forum section. If reddit is being used because that way it is a 'non-formal' statement of policy or something, then tag it as such when it is mirrored on the official site.
Rar, feel my overflowing mapping salt! RAR!

Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years.
Best of luck in the future! Last edited by CaptainWaffleIron#2395 on Dec 29, 2015, 6:00:27 PM

Pretty sure I read that word for word on these forums.
But I agree, this should be the place where GGG posts the relevant information. I visit reddit maybe a couple times a week but I'm here every day.

I think that on GGG's side, the stance still is that officially, anything on Reddit isn't official. I remember Chris saying something along the lines of "being held accountable for everything he writes on the official forum" while Reddit is more of a hang-out.
I agree, though that for being "unofficial", a lot of interesting and valuable to know stuff is posted...
Since all posts on Reddit are [GGG] tagged, maybe someone could write a script collecting them (with links & context maybe) and then post them (daily/every other day/time frame of choice) in a thread here.
