it's a great area for leveling and farming, but it feels very depressing.
that, and you kill Voll who I always considered a "good guy" in Lore.
corrupted rotting undead good guy, but still fighting for a cause.

Hmm, from my understanding he was obsessed with purity. It's the only hole that's annoying in the PoE lore. Voll accepted help off Malachai who dedicated his life to thaumaturgy and Dialla which leaked of thaumaturgy at that point. Not sure why he would trust those two so easily instead of executing them both.

He was a dumbass basically and all of this shit that happened right now is because of him.

Voll certainly made some bad decisions, and that's something I love about PoE characters - they are complex. well, most of them.

still, fighting him kind of feels wrong.
imagine if you had to actually fight Lachdanan in Diablo...
plus grim/sad music of Dried Lake which abruptly stops when you kill him, doesn't make it any easier.

"killing the good guy" can be said about Daresso too, btw.
but Daresso is a killer with no purpose except self-preservation. Voll is as "Paladin" as you can get, in Wraeclast.
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun

fair enough- the daresso (and kaom too btw) we fight is in some kind of dream realm, while voll is in wraeclast. at least thats my understanding.

dried lake, even when released, always reminds me of d3 act 3 alkaizer (sp?) runs [battlefield area or something like that]. same big open area space, really great pack density...even the mobs are *somewhat* similar. strikingly similar.

Yeah, it's pretty close. Then you've got Brutus, who is remarkably similar to The Butcher.
Thinking about it Merveil is almost Andariel 2.0 Only female act boss and has put a blockage on your path.

Voll... I don't really like him. He appears to be a short-sighted revolutionist. Empire is bad. Empire uses thaumaturgy. Therefore thaumaturgy is bad. So lets go and destroy 'em. Little wonder why he made a bad emperor too. It's a subjective reasoning, but I don't feel much sympathy towards this type.

Merveil on the other hand is purely tragic, despite Andariel.
Master Carrrrtographerr! Yirim
I too love Dried Lake. I used to love Docks... but then the GGGods said 'Let there be Dried Lake for farmingeth the upgrades, chaos and experience' and so it was :)

Don't get me wrong - I appreciate the diverse range of maps and tilesets and mob densities to break up the monotony of grinding... but Dried Lake to an ARPG player is like what an Oasis is to a lost outcast wandering the desert. It's paradise.

well brutus is obviously an ode to D1 butcher (as is D3's butcher)

on other hand dried lake is the only location that makes me think of d3 in poe.

The Butcher was a living fucking nightmare, holy fuck.
D3 doesn't justify his legacy.
