How come Blashemy has 35% reservation?

I'm a bit disappointed with Blasphemy TBH.
I had a few builds in mind that are no longer possible with the 35% reservation compared to 25%, and it crimps the mana availability for other skills a bit. Having said that, there has been a welcome improvement in mana availability for Melee skills. The short range makes it less useful for cursing ranged or magic monsters, even with the AoE from Blasphemy and Curse levels. For offensive curses on melee characters, that's not a big deal as you are closing with the monsters anyway. For offensive ranged characters, or defensive curses like Enfeeble, not so hot. Still, could be useful for a caster to apply Enfeeble/Temporal Chains to a melee monster closing within melee range. For 2H melee characters, CwDT works fine as you are likely getting hit anyway. My one character using HoL + CoH will be keeping that, as he's applying Conductivity as part of an overall lightning theme and the combination works very well for that. Lightning Damage + Lightning Curse and lots of hits. My Viper Strike/Reave Shadow is using Blasphemy (enfeeble/vulnerability depending on the threat) and Arctic Armour, but I had to drop Grace to do it. This char is only in Act2 Merciless, so depending on how things go, I can see myself reverting to Grace + AA as it gets harder. Shadow has the INT to handle Blasphemy + Curse no problem. AA + Blasphemy + Purity/Clarity/Discipline takes 95% reservation - very marginal. Maybe test with Alpha's Howl. I have a Duelist using it to apply Warlords Mark, but I am not convinced. The character already has lots of leech, so it's mainly to generate endurance charges, but I already have Daresso's equipped. Should choose a different curse maybe. I dunno, Blasphemy seems most effective for melee characters, but it's in INT gem, and so is Enfeeble, so quite a bit of INT investment required. I'm still playing with it, but I can see myself reverting to Determination/Grace, Herald/AA eventually for most of my characters. Manual cast, yeah maybe for me for characters with not a lot of active skills. When I need it the most I am usually rather busy, and I am a bit lacking in dexterity to hit the right button and the reaction speed to do it in time. Getting old! |

I have an Support character who uses lots of auras and also culls.
Attached a mid level blasphemy to a highish level temporal chains and took off the one damage aura I had. The only curse nodes I have belong to the Hex circle. It's almost screen wide, and only costs 10% reserve. This is will all of the aura nodes on the tree though. |
