How come Blashemy has 35% reservation?

The low range is fucking retarded. People are sick of herald of thunder and curse on hit. And no one wants to gimp their DPS wasting 2 gem slots on a curse and curse on hit with their attack.

cry cry cry... jesus. How about *gasp* casting your curses yourself? They've got very fast cast speed and can EASILY be used manually from a distance if you just stop being so bloody lazy and entitled.

It's always a head-scratcher when people discuss things like Blasphemy on CoH as if manual-cursing didn't exist. For most of my characters, the choice is easy: Attempt CoH setup. Realize that manual cursing is loads faster, cheaper in gem slots, and more effective. Use manual curse for the rest of the character. I haven't even had trouble cursing with my melee characters, although I agree it feels a bit clunky.

EDIT: Maybe it's because I come from Starcraft 2 where pressing more than one button is encouraged. Maybe it's because I played since 0.9.0 or so when CoH and Heralds didn't exist. Shrugs all around.

They figured perma enfeeble was too strong.

Curses (and enduring cry / manual cast Ic) are very strong but people are too lazy. They want to be able to hold down their right mouse click and win, not have to press an additional button, that would make the game far too complex and burdensome.

GGG enabled this terrible mentality when they released CWDT gems and their paying the price for it now.

Here's how you fix it:

-Make it reserve 10-15% per curse
-Increase range to at least 75% of a screen

That's a bit overboard considering how cheap you can make auras with alpha's, skyforth, jewels, and passives. It would be worse than when CWDT+enduring cry+IC was still a thing in the sense everyone would want and need to run it because the its too good not to.

I'd settle for meeting halfway at 30%, then I'd only need a little nudge to be able to use determination, AA, Enfeeble, and Clarity.

As it is I'm using enfeeble instead of determination, and I have no issue with range as a caster. Anything that CAN hit me IS enfeebled. I was using CWDT enfeeble, which only weakened things that were strong enough to hit me for X amount in the first place, and not necessarily the targets in my face.

Its just one less thing to aim, or worry about, and if 35% is the price then I'll pay it.

Blasphemy is the only new gem that meets expectations. I really wanted to love the chaos spells, but they suck. ED and contagion just need to merge, and wither is pretty underwhelming compared to the curses you can already cast on mobs to give greater debuffs without standing there channeling a spell that doesn't do any direct damage. If everyone is just going to offload it to a totem, then just make it a totem to begin with.
it is very easy why not 25%

because if it was to be 25% ALL melee guys would do 50%+25%+25% + BM gem in their links. i think ggg was sick of people having BM in their links (not that it was needed but the flock followed the streamers).

35% is a choice. the convenience is huge (i have it on my poison arrow), the range even without passives is enough, the clear speed increase due to perma Vulnerability is noticeable.

if something is so good that 95% of all players want to use it - then it is broken. glad GGG fixed that before release and not after (blade vortex). we all remember cwdt nerf rage..
its fine, not the super powerful for everyone (anyone who expected this was pretty naive)

It was made for close range builds, not for the ones who already kill off-screen

Increasing mana reservation from 25% to 35% is totally stupid and ruining this gem.
If that much ruined it, then it means it wasn't very good in the first place and you have no reason to lament it.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

It should have 5% reservation at most, considering how boring it is to throw curses all the time.

I'm just disappointed that a Triple-Curse-Blasphemy Doedre themed build won't be viable currently.

Depends which character it's for of course. Blasphemy isn't for all builds, that's by design and I think GGG did a good job with it. If they made it full screen radius and 25% reservation, every single build would be using double or triple curse. I think they wanted to make it more specialized.

I'm currently doing a triple blasphemy curse Flame Totem char and it's absolutely amazing. It melts screens way faster than it did before despite my tool tip damage being about 5k less, and makes boss fights so much more manageable.

6L Sire of Shards - Flame Totem / Faster Casting / Fire Pen / Faster Proj / Item Rarity / Item Quantity

Blasphemy Curses - Elemental Weakness / Flammability / Temporal Chains

Run straight into packs no problem at all now with temp chains always up, and dual weakness plus fire pen melts the screen in like 1 second. Loving it !

I could easily do double blasphemy curse and self cast Flammability, but it's a testament to how cool the new skill is that it's actually worth it and faster clear speed if I just keep them all on blasphemy.

GGG did well with this one. Balanced good right out of the gate !

While the 35% instead of 25% reservation comes as a suprise, blasphemy did exactly what i hoped it would. Make mana-based cyclone sustainable. I'd have a hard time seeing any other use for it, but it works pretty well imho.
