There are good and bad points within any religion. But what history HAS PROVEN is that the good outweighs the bad. Without any sort of focus on the divine, you'll end up with societies that devalue life and promote individualism above all else. You need a balance of both individualism and collectivism to have a functioning society. Without either one our civilizations would collapse.
Depends on what you mean by religion.

I do think that there is a strong correlation between moral relativism and the collapse of civilization. You can have a debate about the nature of good and evil between two people who hold to moral absolutism; to one who peaches moral relativism, good and evil don't exist, making debate with them borderline impossible. There is a fundamental difference between the multiculturalism of moral relativism and the multiculturalism of freedom of speech under moral absolutism; it is the difference between playing devil's advocate, and permitting his servants'* behaviors.

I do think that traditional religion helps a great deal in promoting the requisite amounts of moral absolutism, and that one of the greatest faults of modern atheists is that many of us cast off the shackles of theology and then just call it a day intellectually. The moral relativism is strong; instead of pointing to the works of man and saying THIS is sacred, THIS is to be worshipped... so many atheists wish to raze all shrines, or perhaps more accurately erect an altar with a great big void in the place God formerly stood. Piss Christ enshrined as winner of the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art's "Awards in the Visual Arts."

Without an appreciation for the sacred, for holiness, we are nothing. That's a separate issue from the belief in God or any other supernatural behavior.

"It is not the works, but the belief which is here decisive and determines the order of rank - to employ once more an old religious formula with a new and deeper meaning - it is some fundamental certainty which a noble soul has about itself, something which is not to be sought, is not to be found, and perhaps, also, is not to be lost.- The noble soul has reverence for itself." — Friedrich Nietzsche

Not quite. Your article still paints Bannon as anti-Semitic, etc.

Trump is considering Major Tulsi Gabbard for administration. Could be a smokescreen, but Bernouts love Tulsi. The Hillbots are crying because Tulsi is apparently an islamophobe for wanting to bomb Al-Qaeda. Top kek.

In other news, Trump is now at 46% favorability, up from 37%.

ya man it is all spin. You know, the words coming out of steve bannon's mouth, trump accepting liability in the fraud settlement. Those true facts that actually happened is just spin from liberals.

I do like how you countered an exact quote with a blog-esque opinion piece trying to 'unpack the quote' for us. Because you know, the quote is spin, this guy's explanation is the truth. After all they say the greatest trick of the devil is convincing us he doesn't exist, but don't you worry about steve bannon invoking satan as a political role model.

and there it is.

You dont need to believe in a space alien that created the universe and sent his water walking zombie son to give us a code for eternity in order to have morals or even a shared moral code and direction for society. The idea that it is impossible to have a moral society that can function without including belief in a space alien that doesnt exist is absurd, its utterly absurd.

How did consumerism take over if religion is so great? You know what people need in order to tackle the ills of consumerism? An understanding of their own mind, how they think, why they think, how to take control of what they think, the games people are playing to try and take that control away and warp how they think. Corrupt governments, consumerist corporations, the lack of these understandings is what lets them get away with the horrible crap they have been getting away with, and religion has done nothing to stop them, nothing to protect people from these things. You know why? Because religion preys on exactly the same mental issues, these entities are playing the same tricks of manipulation religion was playing theyre just better at it.

Maybe taken as a whole people are still not capable en mass to be able to function without the delusion of an all powerful alien. Some day they will, human beings will eventually evolve to be able to take responsibility for their own minds in greater and greater numbers until we reach the tipping point, the future is on the side of reality, not the side of delusion.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
It's happening.

It isnt out of hate that Group X should have their opinions pushed aside

Controlling what other people say, think and do is the lifeblood of the elitist left.

THIS is what pushed Trump to get elected. So long as the left keeps preaching the control other people's lives mantra Trump will win far more than 305 electoral votes in 2020.

I literally just used the wording you used, this is almost exactly what you said in the post I quoted from you, nice too see you arguing against it now, thats very christian (no sarcasm sadly).

No, you didn't.

Here is what I had posted:

If you have ever raised children, than you know that a firm but loving guiding hand must be used to help properly shape their future. It isn't out of hate that a parent restricts their child from eating candy all day long. It isn't out of hate that a parent coerces their child to do homework. It isn't out of hate that a parent grounds their child when they do something wrong. The parent's efforts are directed towards HELPING the child become a better person.

Trump's goals are likewise. It isn't out of Hate that he wants to enforce immigration laws. It isn't out of Hate that he wants to strengthen America's economy etc.

1) Parents are strongly guiding and influencing their children's behavior in order to shape in preparation for when they become adults and must make their own decisions. This is normative. It is not normative for the government to shape adults. You could argue that a religion also does this to adults, but the people going there are doing so voluntarily and again it is not a government functions.

Trump's enforcement of immigration laws isn't about what people think, it is about what people do and have done. Strengthening the economy is also not about mind control.

Anyone who has raised a child knows that while you can shape that child's behavior, you are not pushing their opinions aside so much as you are giving them a better perspective on how their actions affect others and how their actions will effect themselves. Children don't have the same sense of extrapolating consequences that adults do. Their sense of empathy can take time to develop as well. Children are "shaped" for the very same reasons that we don't prosecute children as adults.

Children are in the formative stage. Religion involves those who wish to put themselves into a formative group, but the adults have the ability to pick and choose what they will take away from the group. (not going to sidetrack into cults or strongly coercive groups).

How much time is "wasted" playing video games? Should the government decide whether to allow people to play video games and if so for how many hours a week? That is the kind of Big Mama government knows best mind control outlook that the far left loves.

Whether it is the allowable size of a soft drink in NYC, or the amount of sparkle allowed on an MTX, leftists everywhere are standing by to tell YOU and ME what we should be choosing.

When they can't control your choices, they try to control your options. A large part of that recently is controlling the information flow - shutting off facts that they don't want you to know. CNN - still not calling Michigan for Trump - when Michigan's secretary of state has already made the official announcement, for instance.

Hiding information is currently the fashion the left uses for controlling what people think. The MSM omitting Hillary's statements about rigging a foreign election are certainly relevant to this year, but try to to find that on CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, or NPR

“I do not think we should have pushed for an election in the Palestinian territories. I think that was a big mistake,” said Sen. Clinton. “And if we were going to push for an election, then we should have made sure that we did something to determine who was going to win.”

Protip - the second amendment is the only thing that kept far left liberals from doing more than mind control.

You are stuck on nitpicking dogma and taking things literally. Most Christians don't really care if some dude walked on water or not. The point of the religion are the morals & ethics you can derive from those stories. Also believing in a higher power gives a lot of people hope and a direction in life, despite the silly stories.

Well they should care, because if they dont believe it they are not Christians. Having morals that are in line with Christianity does not make you religious, believing in Christ, his book and his teaching makes you a Christian. You cant get rid of the bit where you believe in Christ and the Bible, you can say you have but then you are just deluded on a preposterous level, you are not actually Christian.

You don't have the faintest idea of what a Christian is and you are spreading lies about what someone's religion is or isn't. Their personal belief is theirs, not yours. It is like someone from another star system claiming that Hillary Clinton is now president, because so much past information is there that she was leading and because people are protesting that Trump is not their president. It is like believing Hillary Clinton actually carries Hot Sauce in her purse all the time, and that it wasn't just a vote getting scam like Bill Clinton serving fried chicken.

When you wrote "believing in Christ, his book and his teaching makes you a Christian. "

His teaching is as I quoted earlier. The conflicts in teaching are not conflicts, for reasons I stated earlier. It is not different than Supreme Court rulings in which earlier decisions are cast aside and new interpretations rendered.

Your stance is like saying that the US Constitution is not constitutional because it both prohibits and allows alcohol.
