Messed up big sale ... what's your biggest trade mistake?

Good stories - i don't understand the haggling thing. I think it's part of the game and in most circumstances they'll be some - at least in the trades I did. We, as traders want to get as much as possible out of the trade. I messed this one up, but I think If i want to sell at 15 and he says 13 and I say 14, that's fine. It didn't irritate me that he haggled, it's that he backed out ONCE i'd agreed his price.

IDK.

But - 'bro' - gotta be worse than any expletive.

lol people have said its from some tabletop games or something meaning "mobile"
but i never heard it til minecraft so whatever...

lol its just weird

or whats really lame is "u mad bro" or "u mad?" or "y so serious"
i dont know where that BS comes from but its lame as shit

We had the word "Mob" in text-based MUDs in the late 80s early 90s.

It is short for MOBile. It was an entity within the game that was capable of simulated movement, this set it apart from static items like the environment or weapons/vendors/etc.

That's what I'm saying, I would have done precisely the same. When I offer something and I get a "my offer +1" answer, I say "no, thanks" or something like that and go find another trade. I make it a point not to trade with that guy. You're saying he offended you by not accepting, well, you probably offended him with the haggling. Again: for some people and cultures it is extremely distasteful and it creates a whole lot of problems in communication with other people who think it's OK and just part of the trading game.

He may have added the "bro" as an insult. A "you insult me - I insult you" thing.
You have to be realistic about these things.

I think that's mad.

Haggling maybe seen as odd in some cultures, but this is a game.

I want 15
he says 13
i say 14.

That's how trading works, through negotiating.
And it's fun.

Yes, I lost this trade but I once haggled over a trade for an hour back and forth selling a 21/0 flame totem.

I wanted 5ex, and came out of the trade with 2 ex 80 jewel and a 21/20 srs.

I think trading is one of the most interesting and tactical things in this game - anything goes.

The only thing I would never do is down-trade a very poor inexperienced player selling me something well under priced.

Apart from that let the haggling commence!

EDIT: And there is Never ever ever ever ever ever an excuse for 'bro'

Yes, you enjoy it, many others don't and want to get it over with as quickly as possible. You said 'that's mad', and then 'but this is a game' - precisely. It's a game and some people prefer to play it otherwise. There are players who play only self-found, they despise trade so much. So, while you're more than welcome to haggle to your heart's content if you enjoy it, let us respectfully disagree on our vision of what's the most enjoyable way to play the game and proceed on our merry ways without categorizing other people's preferred playstyle as 'mad'. :)

This is me. Unless it's a one-of-a-kind item, I'll just go find another seller even if they come back and agree to my offer. Then again, I don't make offers much. Only go to sellers who have buyouts unless it's a rare item.

Exactly. +1

ok sry, I didn't mean 'mad' as a derogatory comment.

I just love trading and above all, the ANTICIPATION of a trade.

Maybe the reason i like it so much is that I had 1 year of no-trading in d3 which was horrible.

Sometimes I shout in global giving away free uniques to low lvl chars, which is fun, because when you give them a 5c item
they think it's Christmas.

'You go your way and I'll go mine' - Bob Dylan.

But we are going off topic - my OP was hearing about how people have mucked trades up and what they have learned from it.

No hard feelings. To steer the thread back ontopic, I had a next to flawless Abyssus (40% damage taken, 150% crit multi, almost max armour) after one week in a new league, softcore so everyone was buying Abyssuses all the time, and I gave it by mistake to a guy who wanted to buy another 12chaos Abyssus with much lesser rolls. Not such a huge mistake but it was funny since I was expecting to get some exalts for the perfect one.

:)

I hate hate hate hate losing exalts which is why my mistrade messed me up.

I think i care more about making exalts than making real money.

(Obv losing gameplay intentions and philosophy :--)

Yesterday, I sold 78 fuses at a ratio of 2:1 chaos (in standard). Then I saw WTB notice for someone offering an exalt for the SAME quantity. -_-
