Path of Maps - Track your map runs

@foxcott: interesting thought and feature, but it's pretty complicated for uniques, as it depends heavily on their rolls. It's also complicated to estimate the value of a map drop. Only currency would be somehow easy to transform into chaos.

@Ruefl2x: the app guesses the path of the logs when you first run it right? You didn't change it? Weird that it didnt work the first time.

@Dziki19931: that's something I'm really considering adding yes! :) I just have to figure out the details, and I want to improve the lab tracking feature first I think.

guesses the path?

i installed the app - opened it - went to 'settings' to set up everything.
every field was empty except the hotkeys.
i copied my API token, added my character name and set the client txt location. then i reconfigured the hotkeys and closed the settings windows with the "x" in the right upper corner because there is no other button. then i opened settings again to check if my settings were saved. this was the case and i closed the window again.

after this i switched back into the game and ran an unid map.
hotkeys worked fine. but whatever i typed into chat was just ignored. after some time trying i started the old app to finish the map and then went offline.

some hours later i tried again. started poe, started the app and without changing anything it now worked fine.

i haven't checked the code but it seems the app doesn't load the log file when setting it up in the first place.

so if you are using the app for the first time and you use chat commands you need to restart it to make it work.
Yea, I think Decimar setup a list of default paths to try, and if the logs are present at one of these, it uses it. What's the path to your logs?
Anyway, I'll let him know about this issue :)

i use the stand-alone client and a custom path *cough* :)
Is it viable to track maps, when my friend hosting it? He linked map in chat, but i couldnt track or copy it. Help me please, can i do something w it?
I thought that you could copy items from the chat. If you can, then technically it should work fine (if it doesnt, it might be a bug, idk, I'll try it). If you cant copy items from the chat, then there are no easy way to make that work.
Decimar and I could build a "party mode" for the desktop app, or something like that, for people partying often, but it's not supported right now.

i haven't found a report function on the page so i'll do it here.

the user heymacray only records white maps with 6% qual and no drops whatsoever.

talked to him ingame and it seems he is using pathofmaps just to see how many maps he need to run to hit a certain level. he is doing rotas and is recording other peoples maps.

i think this is massively interfering with the stats of the site and against its inital purpose. i don't want your great project become the same shitfest as /global 820 did.

i don't know how many ppl would actually use it this way. he suggested implementing a switch to not use the data of that char for the global statistics or something.

edit: as for the question above i just tried that and it indeed doesn't work when you copy the item from chat and i also found the reason i believe.

the map name when you copy it from your inventory looks like this:
"
Cruel Vine

and copied from chat it's this:
"
<<set:MS>><<set:M>><<set:S>>Cruel Vine

the rest seems to be identical!

Yea I noticed this user too. He's indeed fucking up some stats, and it doesn't look great on the homepage either. But I understand what he's doing, and I guess that's a valid use of the app. It's on me to accommodate for this usage.

What I'm gonna do for now is hide the maps created manually from the homepage (they'll still be visible on user profiles), and I will also exclude these maps from the stats.

Thanks for testing copying an item from the chat. If you get the item data with just a different beginning, it should be easy enough to support :)

Hey guys can any one say what im doing wrong i downloaded the Path of Maps Client v1.1.0.zip and tring to use it did the token thing name and keybind but when i click keybind program insta not responding and other question is the path of maps safe to use ggg will ban me for using it or no ?
Seems like this is an issue with the app. Maybe the app doesn't have the rights to access the clipboard? Do you have any kind of windows settings that would restrict the app? I'll ask Decimar.

This app is 100% safe and cant get you banned. It's just sending the text you get when you copy a map to my server, that's pretty much it.
