Is this the end of POE?
" Wonder what is the solution to this? Simply nerf flame totem? It worked with flameblast right? Another solution might be is make it harder to do the +1 gem level recipe, noob here though PoE-TradeMacro - https://github.com/PoE-TradeMacro/POE-TradeMacro/

What I don't understand is how GGG handles balancing. They leave the stupidest shit easy mode garbage that takes no investment or skill to play like totems/minions and poison field builds completely OP, and ultra nerf things that were barely keeping up. My block crit dagger marauder lost like 40% of his stats in major nerfs but the same old shit that could outperform him with zero investment just rolls right along. Meanwhile they buff all the top tier content damage output by 900% to even further push people to the most boring possible play styles. Yea, great, that makes your game SO HARDCORE. sigh.

I believe the game is far from dead but it does need a radical shake-up. For me, the most glaring area in need of change is the way content is delivered and to some extent, the content itself.
Right now we have: 1. Here's the content, go run it. . . . 2. Then run it again 3. and again 4. Then you can do theses crazy things called maps. At useful levels they're stupidly expansive to run and maintain and you won't get much back by way of reward. However, if you keep running the same few maps over and over and over and over again you might reach level 100! In the mean time we'll be doing everything we can to make that possibility as difficult as possible. I'm not sure what the answer is but there must be some way to break-up the linearity as well as the need to run the same areas over and over and over again. No its not the end by any means. Maybe you're just bored with game and need a break for awhile. It happens with rpgs like this and there's nothing wrong with that.
They've have been consistently producing not only new content, but bug fixing and balancing faster than any other free to play game I have seen in a very long time. I have always been very genuinely impressed by how on top of things GGG can be with exploits and bugs. Each patch I get to look forward to not just new content, but also fixes for the game. Some of which I never even see because they fix it before it becomes a problem. Honestly the best thing implemented (at least for me personally) was lockstep mode and the North American server. All the content has been great and this game is been the D3 that wanted (I didn't like D3 at all). Lockstep mode just took all those cool things and multiplied it further. |

" Playing POE make me realize that I don't like grindy games. I think playing a single game for long extensive time is incredibly deteriorative to its enjoyment value. It isn't something that GGG can easily fix when it is the inherent design. |

" Well yes, you can say this for every game in existence. Of course (insert game name here) you played for X amount of time lost its luster after the so many times played. Its not a fault of the game design or GGG, its just a genre of game that you're not that fond of as you say. Naturally you will become bored with titles and move on too. Some linger longer than others and others will reoccur. Diablo II is a good example for this situation here, it was a great game not just for its content but its replay value. Having a proper ladder system that functioned well kept the game fresh, but still gave option to play casually. I haven't played it for quite some time now, but every once and awhile I return when the ladder resets. Path of Exile simulates similar experience with the use of Leagues, while not required, allow for a fresh experience of a new economy that has exclusive items (just like Diablo II ladder did) |

" I'm coming f5rom D2, and there it was the same - running Mephisto, runnign Baal, hoping for good drops. POE is better, since you hve more ways to adjust your gear, and you have more areas/bosses to run, particularly with the maps. If you don't like these sort of games, then PoE is not the right game for you, but it doesn't mean it's a bad game for other players as well. I've done some grinding in D2, and I'll do it again in PoE. |

" I think grindy games are poor design. If a game isn't enjoyable or there is nothing new, people should move on. Grindy games does something contradictory to this. It overestimate its replayability and try to extend its shelflife by gating content. Diablo 2 wasn't designed around the grind. Players would grind in Diablo 2 because they didn't want to quit. LoD and many patches later, the grind increased drastically. |

" Yeah, like i always say: "no one game lasts more than 10 years" :) |
