What do you do when you hit a brick wall?
^ This. Seems to me the real brick wall here is your mindset. You've made some valid complaints about the endgame progression, but if you plan on sticking around why not expand on your notion of fun? Steamrolling all content with six-links and top-bracket uniques utilizing the best of synergies is just one way. Not the only way.

" Last night I decided to try and force a poison arrow from he begining character. Probably I'll have to pair it with a flame totem to have any degree of playabillity though that shouldn't be a problem. Though every single poison arrow build pretty much says the same. Level up with something else cause poison arrow is pretty much useless early on. I'll see how it goes. Try to get as much MF as possible. Vinwolfy - I cannot find synergy at the low value items. What I find is that they merely tend to give small boosts but don't tend to have abillities that allows for the creation of synergies. I tried to look for something in traps because no one uses traps and the items are very undervalued now and what I found was that all items that do something to traps is either a flat more damage boost or make them last short and auto explode or give you one trap skill which you can just upgrade to 5L without needing any links. However it doesn't eally creates synergies. And that's generaly the problem with low value items. They either are low level items which will quickly undervalue and they don't have synergies (usually low level items don't because I guess the developers idea is that they are only leveling pieces and not part of a final build which does makes sense) or they are high level items with flat bonus and no synergies... Well not entirely true. A romira's banquet for example is not really that expensive, but for example, a void batery to create a synergy with it is. That's what I find in any build I'd like to try. I might have some items that creat part of the synergy cheap, but somewhere along the line there is always that one item which is unavoidable to complete the build and it's too expensive. My conclusion on the matter is that there is a lack of cheap items (and what makes them cheap is really their availabillity because if something drops often, no matter how good or bad it is, it will be cheap because everyone will have it drop for them) that create synergies. Then perhaps this game is not for you. Anything that is valuable will need to be grinded for. GGG created this game targeted at the hardcore players. People who can sink countless hours into it. If you want fast high end gears, I don't think that's going to happen no matter how long an essay you write. I heard Diablo 3 is easier to get gears. I think you may want to give it a try. Have a nice day.

it is not that there are no 'synergies' around there. it is that you do not need them. what you need and look for is 'crazy multi multi multi damage synergy'
when i read that build 'requires' 2 void batteries to work i know that you simply want the most broken stuff and will never settle for just 'enough' if you want full endgame viable tornado shot for cheap and want a synergy of two undervaluated items: these two (replace LA with TS) got me to lvl90 and the clear speed is better than with 400pdps crit citadel (sadly, the other best bow i have) using LA-chain-gmp or other popular builds people liking 'synergies' is a fallacy. they want pure power items' synergy and never really look at the low-mid tier items |

I spoil my perma-SC status and die and die and die over and over again. No biggie as exp count stays at 0%, but I can get some info from these multiple deaths (Who kills me usualy? Kole-like guys or rather similar to Terrace boss? What kind of dmg do they deal? Ele, chaos, phys? And so on and so on).

Somehow my brick wall is always come in the form of defense or survival. 6L or not was never an issue for me. Using a 4L or 5L might take out a big chunk of my DPS but that only means killing things slower. Lack of proper defense is a bigger issue for me for I can stand not killing things as fast but if things kill me too fast which I have already did my best to shield up then it is a wake up call that my build might not be working very well ahead.

" Well, usually I have 8 to 12 hours to play a day, let's round it to 10 except on days like today where i was painting the living room for the whole day and it's still not finished... sigh. But basicly that's it, some 4 hours after lunch and another 4 to 8 after dinner. I is worth 2 to 3 chaos recipes and another 2 to 3 chaos drops on my ice crash character. It isn't so much that I take a long time doing maps though I don't really optimise it as I explore and kill everything as well as grab all rares. It's just that jewelry doesn't drops very often which limits my recipe making, especially amulets and belts. No, I don't use much MF, I just don't have the slots available for it. I could get some, but that would mean sacrificing some resistences or way too expensive items. Sidtherat - I gave a simple example of a build that I discovered in 2 minutes of looking at the uniques after having seen the build of the week using incinerate as a curse giving abillity on a totem build (so no damage, just cursing through it) as well as using the ring to build up power charges. I imply thought, if I used the spell for damage and combined it with void bateries, especially 2 of them for double the effects, that would be a pretty awesome synergy going on... The build I have in mind has much less sick damage but has a lot of synergies between bothe defenses and attacks and also using both positive and negative effects to help me in some way... It will use some non expensive uniques, but it will need 2 expensive uniques. Just the way it goes. Vinwolfy - What is a hardcore player? Is is a player who enjoys a challenge, a game that is hard or is it simply a player that has no life and can sink 400+ hours per month into the game? Those are 2 very different things. What you appear to be saying is that obtaing items that make the game easy should not be for everyone. Fact is there is no items that make teh game easy and there is a very simple reason for this. The game appeals to hardcore players. Otherwise what you are telling me is that there really is no hardcore play at all. You grind till you get the GG items and then you make the game easy. if this was true the hardcore players whould have gone away already. So let's keep things clear here. I am asking for items which are not necessarely at the level of T1 items but which can create interesting synergies and allowing for many fun builds to be made even at low economy. These builds don't have to be as good as the builds that go for certain T1 combos, that is not the point. The point is merely that they create interesting synergies and allow viable builds to be made. Things that create interesting synergies are things that add abillities that do not exist or that modify abillities in ways that you otherwise could not and that could create certain dependencies between certain items and/or spells to make interesting builds. simple advice: chaos/regal recipes are not all income sources. you pick up rares, try to make it more efficient. do not carry 2h, tower shields etc, drop them if they roll badly and leave room for smaller items. pick all 1*1 and 1*2 blue items (some will vendor only for wisdom scraps but odds are in your favor). the alts you pick up do add up and quickly - 100-200 alterations = ~.5 ex (prices vary). if you want money - run low lvl maps quickly. high level ones will give more exp and can drop some highest level items but in this case it is better to zoom-rush. replace one of DPS gems with IIR gem. it all adds up.
as for the items you request - low-mid low level items with cool mods, there are many out there. bows are great examples as ALL <60lvl bows can be used in end game. quill rain, deaths harp, infractem (imho the BEST item design in the entire game, period), chin sol, storm cloud. all are fully endgame viable most jeweleries are at least usable (or fuel your chance orb recipe - ive made over 200 chance orbs last few days doing white/magic/rare/unique recipe..) and some are very interesting with a right corruption there are power-items - void battery, doomsower, atziri's axe that have only damage/stats going for them. but there are lots and lots of uniques that are just good when used right one of my fav low-lvl picks (took me ~30 vaals to finally get this) |
