Internal Auction house / Trading for money

Auction house no matter what is what this game needs. I understand some people dont want to trade on AH and but others would love to.

And now for the people opposite to that idea, if you happy to trade in person because you feel that it creates more interaction between players - please do so. But dont stand on Path for the people who would love to use advantage of AH instead.

And for GGG: give people choice in this matter.


And now another thing. Trading for money.

GGG u missing huge opportunity to cash in well for ingame items. There is shitloads of chinese farmers websites around which indicate that people indeed use them for their advantage. I saw same websites 2 years ago and i still see them today which means u do abosulutely nothing to battle this illegal process.

In that case why not create such website yourself undercover of course, so people wont whinge about GGG being PTW, at the same time undercutting prices of real chinese farmers websites.

If i would run game like this i would most cerainly do stuff like that myself. People used to buy stuff, they still do and they will in future as well...i tell u GGG...u putting hell lot of rice on chinese table.

auction systems aren't the only systems. and they'll never do a real money system.
advocating for a real money system really torpedoes any valid point you may have.

Well...Anything what involve item trading, involves real money. And thats the reason Blizz removed it. They didnt want 3rd party websites to trade their items.

1. GGG has said again and again forever that this will never happen. Ever.

2. This doesn't create an "option". It immediately introduces a Jacobian dilemma and requires that any person interested in the economy must use the auction house because it is the only way to be a part of the economy in a meaningful way. GGG knows this and won't allow it to happen for that reason.

3. The fact that Path of Exile is not pay-to-win is one of the biggest reasons for its success. This is just another reason why GGG won't change POE by adding an auction house. Furthermore, that level of success is why. . .

4. GGG gives a fuck about more money. Their revenue levels from the initial release alone is more money than the god of cocaine and hookers himself could spend and they make more every day.

So, sorry. . .no auction house for you.

Throwing in a easy to use auction house results in the games reward loop being short-circuited. Just like in Auction House 3 it would cause people to stop looking for upgrades in their games, and only focus on currency to buy upgrades. Because after you buy your upgrades, instead of having an incremental upgrade possible in a few hours... it becomes a few months to a few years. Just as it was the case in D3.

Furthermore, an easy to use auction house has a direct negative effect on drop rates, both actual and perceived. They have to balance the drop rate around the auction house for it to have any value. People always accused Auction House 3 of having lowered drop rates on "legendaries" and decent rares. When the AH got shut down in Reaper of Souls and loot 2.0 came out Blizzard admitted to it.

They had to lower the drop rates in order for the AH system to retain any value and be used.

pretty sure there will not ever be an AH... closest we get is website trade indexers. If you like AH idea, make your own website that allows more advanced indexing of trades and maybe some sort of auction system for people to post b/o offers on items

it's not illegal... it is against the TOS... there IS a difference. A pretty big difference.

Interesting that someone brings up farm houses. It's big business in the industry. It's one of those topics that players are aware of but don't talk about - at least not on these forums.

My concern has always been that if the economy is gated for extremely rare drops like mirrors - which GGG denies is the case - then presuming that the average player is competing against farmhouses to be true would be extremely detrimental to the game.

On the topic of RMAH, this game already has a class divide that mirrors that of the real world. You don't need another one that's directly and more readily driven by buying power.

The game really does need an internal auction house. Most people deny it and go back to selling on poe.trade (which is literally an auction house).
