They (meaning GGG) probably can't do sh*t about it.
A few people in this thread already gave some hints concerning this. The problematic server/connection is a overloaded/congested network gateway between two ISPs. This is the reason why some people experience problems and others don't. The ISPs are the ones who have to work this out. GGG could advise their ISP to do something, but that takes some time as well. And by that time the original route between the two ISPs has most likely been upgraded or rerouted to handle the traffic. Also the lack of reaction from GGG is a bit disappointing. Well, Blizzard gave the information that GGG didn't. Posted a day or two ago on blizzard game boards.
" Posting this because there seems to be a void of information as to wtf is going on, some people experiencing no issues, some constant issues and some intermittent issues. Ping spikes, lockstep terrible performance and DCs. I have found that switching from x gateway to y gateway (London to Frankfurt e.g.) can sometimes get me some spike free time (obviously if I join a map created before swapping, it will be on the old gateway). But it is really hitty missy and the issues can come back. It's routing lottery at the moment. I had slight issues a few days ago, bad but short duration. I've had people all week telling me the game was unplayable while I was fine. Yesterday, I had a repeat of the issues from a few days ago, but it is lasting. While I managed to game it for some grace time by swapping gateways, it never lasted that long. Today I can barely load some web pages (others are fine) and if I'm lucky to actually log in to game, I won't get even to my town stash before DC. Casually casual. "This^^ What hosts am i supposed to type in when using WinMTR? The ones from Henrys Post (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/361292) are for Beta besides Amsterdam which seems to be outdated too, (WinMTR shows 100% packetloss) |

Playing from Ukraine. Here are WINMTR results for most servers eu and us. Btw it started at 18.09.15 14:00. Before this i had 30 ms latency, now i have 175-200.

" I don't know if my problem is the same or different, but for me I just need to re-enter same map instance and latency going back to normal. Doesn't looks like network problems, because servers IP remains the same. Playing with 70-80ms ping, which is causing long loading between zones,
resulting in 2-4 minutes disadvantage in 1 hour races. (I was wrong, it wasn't a ping issue but something else on GGG side) |

I doubt it is the same problem Blizzard pointed out.

today and yesterday i could ONLY play from 2 am onwards in the night.
pings went down to 18-20 and no packetloss (no spiking) like it was 3month playing the awakening. i had massive trouble before with only poe and the frankfurt.level3.net routing shit, but it was never so hard like now and it was only in the evening for about 4-6 hours. now it is whole day long and packetloss so high, that its absolutly unplayable! here a long running log i made yesterday afternoon. i let it run for some hours so u can see many packets sent.
