Why do people complain about RNG when you're playing an ARPG?
" Okay, but there are ways you dont have to deal with rolling items with currency, you just use said items as currency to trade and therefore can buy items you need without dealing with RNG, i have never had a problem with RNG. In fact, its actually kind of fun to roll something and never get what you want, its a good topic to talk about and laugh over, sometimes you'll get a good chromatic roll in the first shot. some times it takes around 20! But, still I don't think people need to be "self found" and its just over exaggerated for the need to be self found. So then my question is, whats wrong with using the items as currency and trading for upgrades? |

" Some players want to play self-found, they don't "need" to but they choose to. Trading in PoE is archaic and in-efficient. That's why there are complaints about RNG, you *usually* cannot progress WITHOUT trading because PoE WORSHIPS (to use JohnKeys word) RNG and trading. " But you can progress very easily without trading. Almost every single patch immensely helped out self-found (master crafting is godly, vendors sell most of your gems, multiple unique drop rate buffs, ect) by association without exclusively focusing on "self found." You may not get the exact build or items you want which can "block" progression of extremely item dependent builds due to being self found. Complaining that your method of play is harder then the expected method of normal play in PoE (I am talking about normal trading, not flipping or whatever crap people come to associate with trading) is like playing diablo 3 and wanting to stimulate PoE one button push to kill everything as oppose to the immense button spam of 6 abilities. You CAN have 5 almost passive abilities and one main attack in D3, but complaining not as effective as a normal build compared to path is kinda fruitless. @Ragnarokchu - I am not complaining that my play style is harder, it is how I play.
The point was directed at the OP, not that I personally think that RNG is bad/good. It's all those things, the most of which is Random. ~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

" If its someones choice to play completely self found then it should not impact the way I choose to play the game(how GGG intends it to be played). |

" Randomness incites action to be taken in different and unique ways. If everything was easy and you could click one button and everything would be at your fingertips, no one would play this game and i know i would not. I like the difficulty, i like things being hard and i like there to be a challenge. If you want to play the game different then how the designers intended it to be you shouldn't be imposing it upon the rest of the community to change the way everyone plays. |

Without RNG it'd just be a "point and click" adventure game like deponia or something.

" I am not complaining about anything of the sort, not sure how you got that out of my post. You play how you want to and I will do the same. I have supported this game and company since Closed Beta, and I play every day. If nothing else, that should be a clear indicator that I, personally, enjoy the game the way it is. More than anything, Trade is annoying and archaic, it doesn't stop me from playing. Random is Random. I was merely emphasizing what JohnKeys posted, vis-a-vis the layers of randomness that dominate and can (mostly) only be peeled back by hours of playtime that most regular working people do not have the time to invest. ~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

Because they can. They have a rather big audience so why not?
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
