Hall of Grandmasters : The Unique map (Dont try it)

I haven't tried the map since last league but I can't remember it being too difficult. In any case, you have some practice to do before attempting the map again and I would consider this a good thing if I was you.

I highly recommend anyone to try it. It is a good way to test your skill and knowledge of the game.

Sounds like you missed the memo for what the HoGM is all about...

To be fair, that memo is missing from the game, so it is hardly surprising if people miss it.

It is something that bloody well ought to be written in the description of the map given that it is presented as a unique level 71 map yet has a difficulty level that makes it one of the most difficult maps in the game.

Currently it says:

Contains the Immortalised Grandmasters

The grandest and greatest ever to fight,
Divine the champions stand tall,
But match their power, best their might,
And even the immortal may fall.

And I don't see how anybody can be expected to guess just how difficult it is if they haven't read about the Hall of the Grandmasters in the forum or heard about it from friends. The reasonable assumption would be, "that's a really tough level 71 map!", just like Olmec's Sanctum is a really tough level 73 map etc.

A better map description would be:

Contains the Immortalised Grandmasters

The grandest and greatest ever to fight,
Divine the champions stand tall,
But match their power, best their might,
And even the immortal may fall.

Warning: This is one of the most
difficult maps in the game.

InB4 OP drops Vaults of Atziri "Yeah, fuck this, not falling for it a third time"
Casually casual.

Well you didn't miss much anyways. Beating each wing results in some seriously terrible loot :)

Fun fact, beat the one and only wing there is atm, open the chest, and out pops a midnight heavy selection of sacrifice fragments.
Casually casual.

The only thing hard about that map, for me was the block builds, sometimes I just switched to 6L vengeance so I could my G slot for block reduction gem, sometimes I watched a master kill himself for well over a minute while my vengeance finished him.

After we already had exiles I'm actually waiting for people to complain about 4 dot warbands in Vaults of Atziri... or Animating Tempest would be funny too I guess.

Cool man, yeah, clearing speed is essential for the Oba's map. We took our leisure time in that map and was wondering what was the timer all about. Anddddd boom. dead. lol.

And now this happens.

I wonder what build that can actually do the HOGM map.

PVP based builds! HOGM is basically a PVP map to my understanding! If you take just any ol mapping build or atziri farmer in there its not going to end well! However IF you happen to have a halfway decent PVP build you can almost walk through that map like a day in the park!

Hedgemony has a video of him clearing the map pretty easy! But he also hides alot of the apsects of the build because it is his fulltime PVP spec he was using to try to compete with at the time! Watching that video will instantly give you the idea of what builds can make this map easy and anything else basicaly PVE based is going to have a very rough time! Keep in mind as well Hedge even said himself the spec he took in there to do this map CAN NOT map! It wont last 5 mins in any PVE content in the game! Interesting for sure!

I also seen another Stream that night (Not 100% sure theres a video i couldnt find it) of 6 LL Shavs builds going in mirrored gear the works and ALL 6 of them get the holy living shit kicked out of them! This basically tells me that this map is more of a PVP spec test than a PVE map! Now considering this is the ONLY map of its kind maybe that should be more specified on the map of its intentions but other wise its a pretty well known fact that this map is like this!

In fact i remeber the night this map released... everyone streming on Twitch was paying absurd amounts for the maps (Its rumored that The summoner dude cant think of his name ATM paid 100Ex just to be the very first person to enter the map!) and all this stuff just to get a taste and the ONLY one i know of that got the clear... Hedge! There may have been another but hes the first i know of!
And like i said he went in with a fully loaded PVP Trapper build so he made it look like cake! The closest i seen anyone else get with a NON-PVP build was Mathil and his ST while it made it VERY far into the map basicaly off his skillful play alone he got stuck on the 2 most bullshit GMs in there... The Ageius builds! He simple could not DPS them down without them simply healing right back up! Maybe if he had a Block Red Gem to run he would have probally got the clear but they were just healing back way to fast!
So in otherwords if you want to be able to complete this map... you need to have a build capable of going into the sarn area and wipeing the flood with anyone who comes your way!
Hedges PVP trapper by far makes it look the easiest so if i was REALLY wanting to get the clear on this map i would start there! With a trapper spec! And you cant build it for PVE either it has to be built around the concept of PVP! Hedge also shows a site he and other PVP guys use that may help you out with information on what works and what doesnt in PVP as well! Hope this helps answer your question!
There is a fine line between Consideration and Hesitation.
The former is Wisdom, the latter is Fear.

How strange, I watched Do3boy rek it on his 10 billion deeps bow char and there was definitely a load of frags came out.
