Feedback Request: Tempest League

I played on a 68 Arc Witch, now currently on 41 Ranger

Q: Are the Tempests impactful?
A: No, feels no different than standard HC

Q: Are they scary?
A: No, it's actually very boring, Warbands sounds exciting or something like having 20 exiles in 1 map but these circles are very lack lustre. The only times they are scary are when they're in boss fights.

Q: Do the ones that affect items feel rewarding?
A: Most of the time I just skip the circles because lets be honest standing and waiting inside the circle for it to expire is very very tedious. It decreases my exp/hr ratio waiting for them. Maybe if they lasted longer or popped as soon as you stood over them most people would be more inclined to wait.

Q: Are they better at higher or lower levels?
A: Much deadlier and harder at higher levels that's for sure but they're still more boring and annoying than they are fun in my opinion.

Q: Do people share information about what Tempests are running right now?
A: No that I know of, everyone I know just skips them though because of reasons I've mentioned above.

Q: Did you play Tempest because you thought it was more interesting than Warbands?
A: HC and only HC player here.

Q: Did you play Warbands when you normally would have played Tempest?
A: No.
Level 53 trapper shadow.

Q: Are the Tempests impactful?
A: They can be in boss areas and completely remove the chance of getting through them, so yes

Q: Are they scary?
A: No. The "Always crits" one might be scary, but monsters always crit anyway (or at least that's what it feels like).

Q: Do the ones that affect items feel rewarding?
A: I have not seen any that affect items

Q: Are they better at higher or lower levels?
A: They're more fun in cruel+ because of the additional mods they get.

Q: Do people share information about what Tempests are running right now?
A: I have once or twice for things like echoing tempests, but generally the mindset is "We'll hit them all when we get to full-clearing maps anyway".

Q: Did you play Tempest because you thought it was more interesting than Warbands?
A: Hells to the no. I wish the mods had been reversed - Warbands sounds much more fun.

Q: Did you play Warbands when you normally would have played Tempest?
A: Not yet, I'll probably swap over when I get bored though.

It's all fun and games. Especially for summoners. Getting one shotted while having ress cap in zone 5 lvls below your lvl is cool and stuff. Arctic tempest zones with random vaal ice novas are nicely balanced. Thank you.

If anything i find tempest zones more anoying than interesting/fun.
This is the worst HC league yet for me. I hate how it can dictate what I can and cannot do for an hour or more. It's particularly annoying while leveling if a nasty tempest is in a boss area. I also have to deal with the ground effects that destroy my FPS (a common issue) much more frequently.

It has not been a rewarding experience in the least for me so far. I might play the SC league for the first time ever.

Are the Tempests impactful?
-Currently only in Cruel, but no. They're pretty lackluster. The firetempest which summons a firesprite/flametotem does significant damage though.

Are they scary?
-Look above

Do the ones that affect items feel rewarding?
-Never encountered, but can't say i'd care if it's only for a few seconds. Not interested in gathering packs of mobs to then run around to search for a Tempest to benefit from.

Are they better at higher or lower levels?
-Some of them really doesn't affect anything early or late.

Do people share information about what Tempests are running right now?
-Not really

Did you play Tempest because you thought it was more interesting than Warbands?
-No, because of HC temp as always

Did you play Warbands when you normally would have played Tempest?
-Considering making a toon there, as it appears to be MUCH more interesting.

EXILES EVERYWHERE, PLEASE?!?!?!
Also, would be nice if the desecrated/burning ground didn't spawn on the exit. It's not fun watching your life drop while changing zones.
Previously you could only get it in maps so you didn't get this problem there.

Are the Tempests impactful?

Depends on the scenario. The positive ones no as they are too short, the negative ones yes, especially in cramped areas and boss fights.
Additionally they seem to fuck up fps in some cases. So maybe they are impactful in those cases too.

"
Are they scary?

Yes, certain effects are basically an instant abandonment of the zone. Since there's no reward for trying to fight through the tempest, I'll just farm elsewhere or alt+f4.

Do the ones that affect items feel rewarding?

No, feels like a silly gimmick so far.

"
Are they better at higher or lower levels?

Well it's possible to ignore them mainly up till A4N, but from that onwards they are 'better' in the sense that I'll just restart the zone till I get one that doesn't fuck me up.

"
Do people share information about what Tempests are running right now?

What for? It's not a rewarding mechanic, so it's not worthy of communication between strangers. Maybe for maps as an excluding criteria on whether to run it or not.

"
Did you play Tempest because you thought it was more interesting than Warbands?

No, because I enjoy hardcore. I think the mechanic is pretty bad and unrewarding.

"
Did you play Warbands when you normally would have played Tempest?

Yes, I think I will play Warbands henceforth, because it appears to be much more rewarding for overcoming a challenge.
Also the balance is currently all over the place, so I will play my HC character till A4C and then rest until A4C is doable.

Further feedback.

They're fricking scary when you stop for a moment to type in chat... you clear a safe area, stop to reply to someone and suddenly a "hostile" tempest starts forming under you "SHIT SHIT SHIT", as you scramble to cancel your chat and get to safety.

Chris, in designing did you consider the social aspects (general chat, trade chat, inventory management) of the game, whilst gaming around tempests? Sure, we could TP back to town for safety and whilst that might be fine/expected for AFK, it shouldn't be expected for all temporary pauses in play whilst we're at the keyboard. I was trying to do a "Challenge Callout" to guildies when I had 1 remaining, only to have an Infernal Tempest form under me and nearly RIP me whilst typing.

Not sure on the solution, but is a problem.

HTH :)

That's what I first thought when reading about the leagues but in the end I started Warbands just because I wanted to be sure to get to the end of act4 by the end of the weekend (and avoid spoilers when reading community stuff, sadly I work). Died once to corrupted Piety and twice on Malachai(in normal!) They seem overtuned compared to all the rest.

Gratz on Doedre's boss room, that's the one I liked the most.
