I'm liking tempest, finally optional content that makes us move, think and take advantage of our environment. Also in general less spiky damage than previous hc temp leagues, gz for that too.

+1

(can easily see it being a future map mod)

Yes they are impactful, in fact they are totally annoying and my biggest highlight on a map is, when there is actually no Tempest going on...

NO CHRIS OpieOP abyssal tempest is not scary at all. Getting highhitters to my face left and right wasnt just enough, now i have to face certain enemies while they get buffed with + chaos/frost/etc dmg OpieOP Especially leveling in act 4 is fun when there are certain tempests in these little bossarenas :)

Nope at least for me so far, no single tempest feels rewarding. I try to avaoid them.

In my opinion they suck at every stage of the game.

Yes i heard there is a site which tracks the tempest.

I play tempest because i only play hardcore in POE, and tempest is the new hardcore league with fresh economy.

I cant see myself playing a soft league without the thrill of permadeath.

So all in all, i feel no reward at all, just some annoying buff-tornados that fuck up my maps and gameplay. Sorry but for me, tempest is a weak league. Bloodlines had at least some new stuff to learn, new mods, some mods were funny, some scary or even deadly, some of them rewarded you with itemsdrops. But tempest.. i really dislike it.
Why not just list what the tempest does exactly in the game?

There are many names that tell a player nothing so he has to learn it by doing aka "stand in it and find out if it tries to kill you or helps you somehow". And then there are multiple "of something" suffixes.

I don't understand why you didn't just put in some extra line into the game that tells you what the current tempest does. Just a quality of life change.
Are the Tempests impactful?

Not really.

Are they scary?
Sometimes, however sometimes it makes fighting to easy. Like when the tempest kills the mobs for you.

Do the ones that affect items feel rewarding?
Nope

Are they better at higher or lower levels?
Higher is a bit more intense

Do people share information about what Tempests are running right now?
Not that I know

Did you play Tempest because you thought it was more interesting than Warbands?
I always played Hardcore, but since 2.0 I got more latency issues

Did you play Warbands when you normally would have played Tempest?
I also did play warbands, warbands is harder than Tempest.

What is the most scary thing atm in the game?
Those are the latency issues, like logging out with 1k+ hp and dieing because of damn server issues. ;) (Yes I already play predictive again, as lockstep with latency hitting 16ms already causes lag), changing location can cause latency up to 2000 and lots of mobs somehow also. (Latency then influenced Frames etc.)

Damn Latency issues.
Might come back in a few seasons.
A little bit off topic but this league will be the first HC league where the first kv\100 would be achieved faster than the standard league.

Edited:
I only play quest areas and low level maps.

Are the Tempests impactful?
Yes they are. Early game becomes much more difficult and fun to progress with tempest.
It is quite positive that always sth is happening on the screen.
Without tempest, it makes me feel too static now.

Are they scary?
Some combination of tempest and the ghost is quite challenging, ei always crit tempest + cutthroat ghost.
Shock floor and freezing tempest etc provide a challenge too.

Do the ones that affect items feel rewarding?
Yes, they are, but this kind of rewarding system will not attract casual players like me.
I got several 5L and a 6L from 1 instance though.

Are they better at higher or lower levels?
They are better at lower levels when you experience for the first time what they do.
It slows the progress so some players would feel annoyed.
Also Tempest gives good opportunity to experience the effects of skill gems.
In low level maps, the quantity bonus is massive, so it was quite rewarding.
The amount of quantity bonus from the tempests should always be on by increasing the difficulty of game contents accordingly. When next league without the quantity from the tempest, I will feel quite disappointed.

Do people share information about what Tempests are running right now?
There is a tempest checking site, so some ppl are sharing and caring,
personally trying to pick specific tempests is out of my interest.

Did you play Tempest because you thought it was more interesting than Warbands?
It seemed much less interesting but it turned out tempests are fun to play,
maybe from the quantity from them or maybe the Act 4 made me feel fresh,
but in the end I enjoyed the effect.

Did you play Warbands when you normally would have played Tempest?
No, even though it looks much more fun.

In summary, it was a fun league but without much threat. I liked it but will forget the experiences soon.
Invasion league before nerf was fun with many mobs that I will not forget for long.

No.

I played Tempest as I usually like to play the Hardcore leagues, but the Tempests forced me to play Standard league this time around. Admittedly, I only made it to Level 40 or so, so I can't provide much feedback to how it is at higher levels. But I just found them boring and more an inconvenience than anything. Trying to stand in beneficial Tempests broke up the flow of the game, while I stood around or went out of my way (even for a few seconds) waiting for a Tempest to trigger - it just got to the point where I ignored them.

I didn't find them particularly impactful at the levels I was playing. I didn't bother moving mobs out of beneficial Tempests. There was a bit of moving around to avoid the damaging Tempests, but I just didn't find it engaging or fun. It just felt forced and like the bottom of the barrel was scraped this time around. Sorry!

Did you play Warbands when you normally would have played Tempest?

Yes. Tempest just didn't work for me.

Cheers.
well one thing i might add. boss room such as kaom, malachai and usually all act 4 boss with small room with tempest effect is really annoying. u know, especially the act4 and malachai, when so many thing happen on the screen and the tempest effect really a pain to my eyes.

rather a good hardcore leagues, better than the invasion leagues (just came back for the 2.0)

Are the Tempests impactful?

Short version: Yes. I check my waypoints carefully before entering a zone. Tempests affect my decision to even enter a zone.

Long version: Depends. There are some zone/Tempest combinations (e.g., crit tempests in boss rooms, undead minion tempests and/or poison just about anywhere) that make me say "no effing way" and go and do something else until a new instance comes along. I also don't like the Transmogrifying Tempest, chiefly because I haven't yet been able to find out whether they affect Divination Cards. Those things are hard enough to find as it is without having them turn into scroll fragments because of a tempest.

By the way, I wish we could make new instances to get rid of fatal/annoying Tempests, but I'm guessing you removed that option to reduce server load. I'm also not liking that a Tempest seems to affect all layers of a zone (e.g., all floors of the Vaal Temple, or both the Northern Forest and the Dread Thicket). Seems a bit lazy to me, but for all I know there isn't a choice because of code or whatever.

Also, since I'm laboring under the delusion that I might actually be able to complete one or two of the challenges, I'm chasing Tempests for the league challenge. However, since I've yet to get past Act 4 Cruel Piety in Tempest, I'm on the cusp of giving up on that one.

Again, it depends. Nothing scary about the Transmogrifying Tempests unless they turn Divination Cards into wisdom scraps. On the other hand, crit or haste Tempets in that stupidly small boss room for Act 4 Piety are a no-go. For that matter, just about any tempest in the run-up to a boss makes me wait for fairer weather, so to speak.

"
Chris wrote:

Not really, but then, I've barely gotten past Act 4 Cruel, so I haven't yet tried the Corrupting Tempests of which I've heard so much. Transmogrifying leaves me with mixed feelings; on the one hand, it's nice to bypass the vendor step, on the other, I'm never sure if I might be scrapping a Divination Card.

The "of Animation" suffix is annoying as hell.

For me, they're better at lower levels. Annoying at lower levels is fatal at higher ones.

"
Chris wrote:

I can't really speak to this one. I check my waypoints carefully before entering a zone.

"
Chris wrote:

No. I played it to get the one "hardcore league only" challenge out of the way, before realizing that I was deluding myself that I could complete all eight challenges.

No, I'm playing Warbands because I'm tired of losing all my progess around level 62.

Other remarks: the constant tempest noise gets fatiguing after a while.
