Stack armor and resist are worthless
I'm currently lvl 49, have 1200 hp with about 1000 armor and 50~60% all resist
I found that there is no point to stack armor or resist! Because no matter how high our armor or resist you still got 5~6 shot killed buy white name mobs. When I'm lvl 40, I just have 600 armor, got killed by archer mobs with 6 hits. Lately when Im lvl 45 a have 800 armor, with Determination and Molten Shell I got 1200 armor!! But there was no different!! I still can be died in 5~6 hits. Same story with resist, boosting from 25% to 75%, but those skeleton mages still hit hard. Resisting 3/4 damage is no better than resisting only 1/4? I don't quite follow...

Yes you need life, or rather ehp (effective hit points), and a lot of that.
No, life only wouldn't work. High, or in most cases, capped resists are needed for later stages of the game. Armor is a different thing, you shouldn't have a problem finding armor related topics. IGN: Iski

I had about 10k armor and 80allres on my ranger, it was pretty faceroll until lvl 70 maps

" your defense stats are mediocre at best. not worse but not good if you died after 6 hits of a pack of mobs (so in total 20 hits or so) everything is fine you are not supposed to be drunk or at sleep while playing you can change gear (for example rings) when fighting elemental-damage monsters to hit 75 or 80 or whatever your cap is. 50% elemental resists is too low in all critical cases |

How can you say resists are worthless?!? Dunno about armour, but without my 75% resists I would have died at least 10 times/day. Yes you STILL take damage with 75%, but at least it's survivable. Being able to click the "Oh Shit!" button and run away is much better than getting one-shotted.

Getting your fire resistance up to 82% from -60% turns a certain Act 3 villain into a larf from a nightmare. That is, if you have the life to go along with it.
Defence in this game requires life (apart from the quirky CI builds, which may be viable late game) in addition to whatever else you're stacking. |

Armor is the kind of thing that you need to stack heavy to work. it requires iron reflexes , it requires grace , and to an extent it requires determination and even then you should probably be spamming granite flasks.
armor is something only truly viable when you happen to have a 40% block rate and 7 endurance charges to go with it. if you don't have at least 5000 armor by the beginning of act1 merci + granite flasks , you are probably going to be flash liquefied . |

armor is good you have pretty low armor, without speccing into it I got 1200 armor at lvl 45 molten shell dunno used against high phys damage mobs mostly. Life is the key anyway :3
