Stuck on loading screen while getting into the third instance / I loose config changes

I'm also experiencing this issue.

After logging in to a character, I am able to zone into the first instance with no issues. However, I am unable to load into the second zone. I can hear the BGM of the new zone but the screen remains black and POE becomes unresponsive (have to end task). I've only recently started to experience this issue...

Any advice?

I got the same issue today after I updated from win 7 to win 10. The game can't load the second instance.

I already exluded the game from th firewall + antivirus.

Any suggestions how i can fix it?

getting the exact same issue here, windows 10 64-bit, been running the game fine until last few days, i can load into game, use waypoint once, then when i use again, get stuck on loading screen, forced to close .exe using task manager, where it says its not responding. really annoying.

i also run avast. i tried changing some settings and also turning it off completely, but didnt solve the issue for me.

also lose config changes every time it happens.

I was having the same issues as many of you (2nd zone transition would freeze my system). The way i solved the problem for me was to:

1. Close all background programs
2. Run the POE.exe as an administrator
3. Set all of the graphical options in-game to their lowest settings and run in windowed mode.

Funny thing is, after this, i returned the game to my normal (maxed-out) graphical settings and full windowed mode, and everything works fine...Still dont know what the problem was.

how do you run PoE in admin mode in W10?
i create desktop icon using steam, right click, but no "run as admin" option
i tried turning all my settings to lowest and running in 800x600 windowed mode, but no cigar still getting stuck :p
i also dont think its to do with firewall

think its something to do with needing admin priveleges..


edit: figured out how to run in admin, still didn't fix it for me.

edit 2: MINE IS FIXED NOW

tried all of the suggestions.
went into steam, path of exile -> right click -> properties -> local files -> browse local files -> created fresh desktop shortcut for PoE. restarted PC. right clicked icon and selected "run as admin"
disabled avast temporarily (have it active now and no problems)
changed in-game graphics settings to lowest, 800x600, windowed mode. no more issues.
turned settings back up to max, playing in windowed fullscreen currently, issue fixed for me.

I suspect that, for me, the problem was i was running Razor Synapse in the background. Its had problems in the past with confilcts..

update to this thread:

think I nailed it.

anyone suffering from this issue specifically in Windows 10, check which USER ACCOUNT you log in to Windows with.

I was being logged in to Windows 10 via a Microsoft account, not my local user account. I think logging in to Windows 10 via a "Microsoft account" was not giving me admin privileges, so the game can't access some folders that it needs to.


You can check or change your Windows user account in Start -> Settings -> Users
