Would PoE be great on Next Gen Console?

you will need this manny button :/

Jokes on you people - Valve will release a new controller type which instead of thumbsticks (which are atrocious for controlling a cursor) will have trackpads similar to what is found on notebooks, and with that PoE will be playable just fine with a controller. Not as good as with a mouse ofc, but miles better than with thumbstick controllers.

Can we stop calling PS4 and XBone "next gen" yet? They've been around for over a year and a half.
Next gen is going to have subcutaneous electrodes that read our minds and do what ever it is we think should be done. At that point, I'll give up my mouse.
When I think in the terms poe and next generation this comes up quicker than the thought of a console

No.
D3 was specifically designed to be on console.
The mouse and keyboard is far more powerful than any controller will ever be.
Besides which, everybody has a PC already.

Well imagine all those engineers with their gamepad at work.

Diablo 3 was designed with consoles in mind. Witcher 2 was designed with consoles in mind. Alan Wake was designed with consoles in mind. The last 10 years many 'PC' games were designed with consoles in mind. That is why they all play like garbage (on a PC).

Yea, that many buttons for spamming two skills.

If d3 works on consoles that has a lot more skills and buttons you need to use compared to PoE, there should be no problems with PoE working on it also.

The biggest problem is making a new interface for controller, not how many buttons you need for a one/two spam skill game
A complex, fast-paced game like PoE would prove impossible to get working on a controller. Simply put, 10 buttons and 2 analog sticks is simply WOEFULLY inadequate once you figure out everything that has to be done... Especially given the aiming part.

A lot of people might think otherwise, but that notion will vanish once you sit down and realize that there are certain design considerations that mean a game designed for a console will outright HAVE to do certain things with their gameplay. For one, the only ranged attack method that CONSISTENTLY works well with an analog stick is the "linear skillshot," (PoE example: fireball) which works well on its own... But specifically-targeted areas become tricky to impossible, such as Rain of Arrows or curses: some console games can attempt to handle them, but generally relies upon directly targeting the first enemy in the direction you aimed at. (so it's not actually remotely targetted... It's just a linear shot that "hit" and produced an AoE instantly)

This makes careful/clever aiming not an option. It also means some skills, like Frost Wall, would have to be taken out entirely. Lightning Warp would become halfway useless; good for travel or just straight-up escape, but of no help whatsoever when you needed precise aim to get you the right position during, say, an Atziri fight. Similarly, placing Totems would be a frustrating exercise.

Some of these issues could be addressed by making the input slower... Which just wouldn't do for PoE's gameplay, which happens insanely fast by the standards of a LOT of games.

Long story short, there's no way to make a game like PoE work on a console's input... Without making such huge changes that it would VERY MUCH cease to be PoE anymore.

This statement is so far removed from reality that it's downright hilarious. Have you ever even PLAYED Diablo 3 before?
