can anyone confirm will there be a global wipe of characters or will it just be a respec or? i think anyone else who does not know is also so very curious?! please someone help me

In awakening, when you press x to change your equipped weapon, do your hotkey skills change too? That always bothered me since you have gems in your weapons and you leave some skills unusable.
