Keep/retain souls when moving between areas!
I know I'm probably the ten billionth person who want this exact same thing, but I could be wrong.
I just assumed that many people asked this, but I felt that with a new Vaal gem (gluttony of elements) coming up this issue needs to be readressed. I rarely use Vaal skillgems in general and one of the reason is that we loose all collected souls when moving to a new area. I think GGG haven't really thought trough this particural aspect or just didn't care because they want it to be "hard" to use Vaal skills. What I don't get is that it is already hard in some areas and maps to collect enough souls for the most effective Vaal skills. So either please make souls retainable or lessen the amount of souls needed to use Vaal skills. Thanks. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

Did they ever fix the snap shotting issue with multiple gems being able to store souls and swap out? Cause wtb vaal haste. Go to normal, swap in all your vaal haste gems. I don't want that to happen because you could gain lots of souls in low level area and spam all your Vaal gems, after that gain more souls in low areas. That would allow exploiting.
So I say -1 for that idea. But you might want to use the search function for different apporaches how to get extra souls (someone had a thread with 5 uniques with some giving souls on flask use and stuff like that, liked them but it got lost through all the other threads ~2 months ago). Okay but every soul gets its own load screen, and not all souls have SSDs.

The biggest reason not to is that Vaal skills are designed to be used oncein a bossfight. You want to open the door to leaving the boss area to refill souls and then coming back to use the vaal skill repeatedly.

" I think changing areas normally (by walking) should not cost anything. If the game could handle it technically, changing areas would never be necessary, you could just load new areas as you near them. So there is no story-line reason to have anything happen when you change areas that way. Rather let's lose all souls when using a TP or waypoint. May your maps be bountiful, exile

Obviously there has to be a measure againts exploits. However I only ment retaining souls when walking into a new area, not reaching it by portal or waypoint. For example you plan to farm merciless Dominus. You run trough the Sceptre of God areas beneath then gain some souls for the boss fight etc.
I have no problem gaining souls in areas in general, it's not about that. Sometimes I can use Vaal skills multiple times in an instance if there is plenty of mobs. However it's so annoying that when you clear an area and your Vaal skills charged up with souls, then you walk to the next and WHAMMO!, they're gone. Snapshotting got fixed a long time ago afaik. I never used it though,never checked if they fixed the Vaal haste or not. Got one a long ime ago, good thing I never traded it. Then again I can create one any time I please. ;) Just need haste and a Vaal orb. It would be also good if there were power levels. For example if it were possible to charge up Vaal gems multiple times to the max so you could use even more powerful skills. There would be a counter to show the power level on the skill tab to let you know which power level the skill is on currently then cast away!!! |

Why not allow Vaal skills to be used so long as at least one soul is in the gem but on an increasing return, where you get up to 60% effectiveness or so at soul cap -1, one more soul would be a fully realized vaal skill. I for one can't seem to find them useful enough, I've yet to get one that I feel I'd really want to use for bosses and such because their potential thus far as I've seen is so minimal. Being able to more reliably use them feels like the big need.

" Vaal Spark, Vaal Discipline + Increased Duration are REALLY strong and worth the souls. Vaal Flameblast on the other hand... See them more as emergency skills and you will find some that actually can be useful for you. |

They need to be more than just last minute emergency like Vaal cold snap.
I like CPTBRUMBL3Z idea about them being usable with a single soul also. If they make them like that they would have their current effectiveness with one soul then build up to a more powerful attack when they are fueled by more souls. Obviusly it need to be balanced so it wouldn't bee too OP. People here tend to be hostile against OP things. Scruffy Nerfherders. :) |
