It's all about driving a truck with wierdo's chasing you. And then driving back with your grandma and her friends. That's where I stopped watching though, didn't see if they took the rock fortress. If they did, then good.. the end

If you haven't seen the original three Mad Max flicks, your point of reference is a little incomplete.

That said, Fury Road is a nice action flick, a popcorn-chomper, but it's not great cinema. It's a two-hour car chase, for most of which Max just gets to come along for the ride.

It's pretty clear from comments by the director that this film was crafted to capitalize on contemporary feminist trends. There's nothing materially wrong with that, except for the fact that you could've left Max out, entirely, for all he really does to affect the story. In fact, to my thinking, the character with the most growth and emotional gravity is the Warboy, Nux.

So, fun for a watch? Yeah. Best entry in the franchise? Not by half. Be aware that the original Mad Max, which is set at the very cusp of the unspecified disaster which ruins the world, is a bit dry and dated. You may find it not to your liking. The Road Warrior, the second installment, is much better. The third, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, is panned by many, but I find it to be a satisfying story, with more interesting characters and a much better fleshed-out setting than Fury Road.
