Thanks to the graphical update in Act 4, my Diablo 3 friends are switching over to POE

Updating the graphics of the Act 1 starter area would be huge boon for the game.

I've spoken with many players who were turned off by the graphics on the Act 1 beach and uninstalled Path of Exile 5 minutes later. It's easy to say, "Well, good riddance to them.", but more players purchasing more packs is good for all of us.
Overall graphics quality improvements are good for everyone. The bigger question is does this work well on middle of the road video hardware ($130 to $230 US) and still produce good frame rates (> 40 fps)? I run PoE 1.x on a Radeon HD6870 (MSI Hawk) and on my Intel Core i5-660 OCed to 3.8 GHz I am happy with the overall frame rates. The IGN video looks very good but then GGG will be showcasing act 4 on top of the line $500+ video hardware and probably have a rig with an Intel 4690 (or better) and 16 GB ram and an SSD. So if TriniGamer could give us some info on his video hardware, cpu, ram, etc. and beta video performance that would be nice.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Act 1 is my favourite act! You are washed ashore on the coast of some cursed mainland. It feels gritty and realistic. And a realistic setting that gets corrupted is much more convincing to the player. Why are they turned off by it?

The first time I loaded up PoE I could immediately tell that this was a game solely designed for PC.

POE 2 is designed primarily for console.
Who cares about graphics. Gameplay>>>>Graphics

I'm playing D3 now anyways, build I put 600+ ex into is getting nerfed pretty heavily. Hoping they'll adjust it some more.

Its because of uninterested areas. Caves and mud (that looks more like plastic by the way). Act 1 areas and diversity is very low, and generally very uninteresting after you see the same areas you see in first zone. Its the worst act in the whole game for me because of lack of anything interesting in it. I mean the prison part is the only good thing in the whole act 1.

`I uninstalled D3 after about a month into this game. I like the graphics better here instead of cartooney d3. Unless D3 changed to more realitc and gritty and less cartoon PoE is takin a step backwards copying them.

That´s a total legit opinion.^^

But when you´re watching a witch making the very same cast animation for all projectile based spells for three years, the spells could look and be animated like a century firework, all you will see is this same repetitive casting animation. xD
What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?
Guys, the game didnt improve at all. WTF are you talking about it's the same graphics engine
The graphics are perfectly fine, although I feel like the skill animations and effects could be better.
Yes the graphics suck, and the animations suck even more. That is why I stopped playing this game a year ago. All those ppl saying that the graphics are fine have you ever played any other game but this and Diablo 2?

All the content in PoE is free but that certainly won't stop people from demanding more and insisting its unfair.

I don't want free. Is your time really that worthless that you would spend hours playing a sub-par game just because it is free?

I wrote a letter to GGG last year urging them to start charging for this game. I had high expectations for this game because it has promise compared to the utter disappointment that D3 is. But no free to play game is ever going to have the depth and polish (of a modern tech game) that would hold my interest and take up my valuable time.

I'll check back after the new expansion and see if anything has changed.
