Thanks to the graphical update in Act 4, my Diablo 3 friends are switching over to POE
" Well yes, most certainly it's more important that a game is fun than it's pretty, but that's a very weak argument, while at the same time most people (except those who're playing games with a potato) will agree that from two versions of a game the version with better presentation is overall better. There are also a lot of good examples of games that were considered ground breaking not only because they were fun, but also had great graphics: "Elite" for example which was great when i was a kid, "Star Wars: Rebel Assault", "Half Life" ... Hell, even Diablo2 was considered a great success regarding it's presentation, although it never was considered particulary "pretty". Would Civ2 have it's legendary status without it's wondermovies? Or Master of Orion 2 without the small render videos? I'm not so sure, man. PoE is a great game, no doubt about that, it's the single best ARPG since Diablo2 (and easily surpassing D2 for that matter), but it could be even more memorable if the presentation would meet the high standards of the gameplay. Graphics, sound etc. all well and good, but a cutscene is something still missing. People play and love games for different reasons - Diablo2 had it pretty much all, and that's why everyone found something to love about it. --- Regarding Diablo3 gameplay - i just don't like it. I have to use builds i don't like because i can't find the stuff that i need, and while in PoE i could trade for stuff and at least use a weaker version of said build, in Diablo3 i can just hope that the right thing drops. The two games are very much alike regarding amount of grind you need to make a mid-tier build working. Without trading, killing stuff feels not very rewarding because you rely on pure single instance RNG in wether you get what you want or not. In PoE, you can just trade the stuff you need for stuff you don't need. Makes a lot more sense for me. Last edited by ahcos#4542 on May 4, 2015, 10:17:22 PM

^ agreed one thing I hated was when they killed off trading in D3.
Blizzard listened to the wrong people the ones who cried for BOA items never actually played the game and then left, all seems like a pretty good plan to destroy the game. Every item in D3 being BOA was a real deal breaker for me, yet I keep hearing all the old skool hardcore ARPG folks praising it. Saying now everybody has to "work" for their items and cannot use mommy's credit card. Funny considering there is black market for D2 and POE the two supposed hardcore games with no pay to win. Where as D3 no black market even exists. I could go on one of the many blackmarket websites for Path of Exile and buy my items for cheap with a credit card, the ubber expensive ones that people here lust for. Where as you cannot do it in D3 as everything is BOA. That just goes to show you how some people are so full of shit even right here on this forum. The detail in this game was never bad and has not changed, maybe more people would join if you didnt link them to streamers abusing the no texture packs for less desync sheet.
**Iv said it once ill say it again if someone doesnt have a peice of gear that went legacy you _____________________________clearly didnt want to play the build at the time it was OP.**__________________

" Here's the thing: Being always online is the thing I hate most about Path of Exile. If I could play a version of the game that let me play whenever I want instead of relying on an internet connection, I'd be playing that all the time when I wasn't online; as it is, I can only play Path within a few feet of my modem. I bought Diablo 3 at launch. I played the game through all three difficulties. It was garbage. The itemization was garbage. The design philosophy was garbage. The plot was garbage. The trade scene was garbage. The customization was the filthiest garbage of all because it didn't exist. About the only things that were good were the treasure goblins, the auto-pickup mechanic regarding gold, and the graphics, which were somewhat pretty, if boring and WoW-esque. Is Path perfect? Hell no! But it's got SO much else going for it, so many good, fun things that I love, that UNlike Diablo 3, I am willing to forgive its one massive glaring flaw--being always online--because the rest of the game is so good. |

" Just stop with this nonsense. The first two areas in Act4 have "overcast" atmosphere with a "washed out" color palette. Mines are depressing and dark. Kaom zone is almost monochrome. Act 3 is a lot more colourful than Act 4 Technically the graphics didn't change one byte. It just has niceer textures, compared to Act1 created in ~2009 When night falls She cloaks the world In impenetrable darkness Last edited by morbo#1824 on May 5, 2015, 2:46:33 AM
