40h enough for 5days race?

The analogy to professional sports is a bit misleading. The limitation of time has nothing to do with practicing, but with the actual performace.

It is like there would be these very expensive running shoes that made you really fast. A running competition against a competitor with those shoes would pretty much always result in defeat. This would make those competitions pointless for the people that can't afford those shoes.

So a limited time race, no shoes-race, would be much more intresting for those that can't put in as many hours, can't afford the shoes, since they would then also have a chance to win.

At the same time, running with those shoes is really cool and there should be shoes.allowed races for people that can afford the shoes.

Why do people feel the need to make silly analogies for something that's so easy to understand?

Well, the issue here is time. Therefore you cannot really make an analogy to shoes. Shoes would be something like a powerful computer that gives you edge compared to other player that struggle with longer load times. Or a gaming mouse.

In these longer races the result has to do with previously acquired knowledge about the game and the time that you are able to play. And the analogy had to do with limiting everybody's playing time because somebody is not ready to use as much time to the race as others, but yet wants to have the same chances.

Because people feel entitled to their spots on a ladder/ race rewards solely depending on time invested instead of "skill" used apperently.

Limited time = the best RNG wins. Is that really better? x)
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

I mean, even with 5 days the difference between top 50 and top 35 is going to be pretty RNG. Cartos+zana may be what separates them.

But time is exactly what most people can't afford and that is the analogy. In these races the amount of time you can spend on them gives you an edge just like a better computer would.

And it is not about being ready to spend time, but being unable to.

Also, it is nto about having the same chances, but about your chances being more based on skill and knowledge of the game instead of your free time.

But, yeah, I don't think there is much more that needs to be said here.
The people who must rely on overcoming the game's challenges by buying their way through in gear and boss services, etc. will do poorly in this one.
