[rage] Jungle Valley Spider. a.k.a stop the fucking RNG already!
" great show man. proves my point too: RNG liked you and didn't spawn any aura bastards :) though that Chaos damage nearly did you in through the ES... @Boem, 'point-of-thread is, the Weaver herself is actually secondary here. yes she hits hard and with Chaos damage - but had this fight been more like the Act 2 one (maybe with more minions because arena is larger) - all would be fine. especially for a 72 boss. all the aura stacking, and out-of-control-RNG spawning all kinds of minions - can make Weaver easy (see Anuhart's Video), impossible (see my case here), and pretty much anything in between. don't you think a boss needs to be more... deterministic? for fuck's sake we have RNG dominating every damned thing in the game already, so boss fights too? side-note: leveled the Cycloner a few minutes ago, so exp loss is forgotten. also got some nice maps. the 'ol box-of-numbers must have "felt" guilty for screwing me over at the spider... not to worry though, my good-RNG streaks don't last long. On my infernal blow duelist this battle is purely RNG, if ele reflect spawns, I kill myself instantly, if not, I stand still, hold attack, and win.

I hear you, johnkeys.
I'm playing a char together with my gf (as in, she mouses, I do the keyboard - a bit weird, but we've done this since the earlyish days of Diablo 2) and I told her we can do Jungle Valley no problem, but let's leave the boss alone. she was kinda curious. After all, our witch is level 81 (was possibly 80 then). So in we went, died nearly instantly to a horde of flickering and whatnotting spiders. :) Not going there again in a hurry. On the other hand, Orchard isn't much of a problem when taking care. What I'm saying is: If RNG throws the right monsters at us (Devourers are a favourite), a level 66 map can be too much. On the other hand, level 74 maps can be a piece of cake. So while I don't mind RNG as far as drops, spawning of masters and corrupted zones are concerned, I'd like to have a bit more control over the fights. I know, I could roll the maps until I get "Inhabited by x", and sometimes I do, but that also takes the fun out of it a bit. I'm also all for reflect, but there are situations when you don't have the time to observe carefully and plan your moves. Jungle Valley is such a case. Once you enter the room, there's not much time to lose. React or get rekt. As melee this fight requires 2x granite + life leech (quality if possible).
Playing as cyclone, this fight is especially fun, since you don't get cornered and can keep 100% uptime of granites & leech nonstop. You just sail through an ocean of spiders... :) Balancing PoE, so that sometimes it wont present you with (almost) impossible odds, its practically impossible to do, because of the sheer amount of builds / map mods / bosses / mob affixes... At this point its imo not realistic to expect a 100% balanced game. When night falls

" Much as I disagree with a lot of JohnKey's points (as well as vehemently disliking this aura of victimhood which he cultivates), this actually proves this particular point a lot. GGG does themselves no favours by blindly following RNG wherever it may lead. RNG actually ties GGG's hands when it comes to balancing. Remove some of it and PoE suddenly becomes orders of magnitude easier to balance. I, personally, would much prefer a well-balanced game with less RNG than a poorly-balanced one with more. In effect, GGG have sacrificed balance on the altar of the almighty, wrathful Old-Testament-God RNGesus. And yes, I do tend to use that metaphor a lot. :P Last edited by f4sak3n#2799 on Apr 9, 2015, 8:21:33 AM

The first time i tried this boss, RNG gave me 2 rares with "other allies can't die" auras...
Needless to say the fight was completely impossible to win, even with quartz flasks i couldn't reach the rares before being killed by the endless sea of flickering spiders and the weaver sniping me... Reflect auras are even worse because in all the spiderclutter on screen you can't spot them on time (and the aura is already there before they finish the dropping from the roof animation). |

" I actually agree (It's just that I've given up the hope that GGG will stop shoving RNG everywhere, in huge piles & many layers :) In this particular case, the only option would then be to disable all auras. Because some combination of auras will always make a bad day for some builds, since there is so much variety. E: Everyone who played Bloodlines, knows there is a ton more of RNG (and thus deadly situations) coming into the core game. So keep that lube close, gentlemen :P When night falls She cloaks the world In impenetrable darkness Last edited by morbo#1824 on Apr 9, 2015, 8:36:04 AM

During all the leagues never noticed that this is a hard fight. Played with sporkers, archers, pure rf.. Melee sucks, yeah. But the fight is ok.

I feel with like Jungle Valley your build can either do it, or not. There really isnt a whole lot of middle ground. There are some amazing builds out there that just cannot do Atziri and likewise with JV. I've had some of my strongest characters get rolled on that boss yet kill Atziri without sweating. My Melee 2h Stun build (meh for damage) can wreck a double JV boss without even moving. It's interesting how this game works sometimes.
