How important are totem durability nodes?
Your options are:
- Freeze or Stun enemies, so totem durability doesn't matter - Stack cast speed, so totems still get a volley or two off before getting 1shot - Invest into totem durability (life/resists/armor) Cold Snap trap goes a long way in a 3L with Eleprolif. If you have the sockets, try that out first since it's relatively "free". The most interesting thing to note is that cast speed is applied twice when you measure the "time to first volley" -- its affects w.r.t. totem survivability are exponential. Cast speed means the totem is summoned faster, and then it also means the first volley comes out faster. If the first volley is strong enough to clear out enemies, then that is its own defense (until you come across an enemy that's even faster and still kills the totem before it gets a shot off). Everyone is going to get the life node on the way to AB. Quality/levels on totems matter significantly. I usually recommend against investing into totem defense until quite late, but you're at the late-ish stage if you're over level 70 and your gems are on their way to L18. |

i would do that , but i am already having issues battling tedium around charge generation, generating charges using power charge on crit ice spear is soo damn tedius. so much so i have reconsidered getting power charges .

" Yah, the thing is, FT do such great damage that you want to spend all your time recasting them and moving forward. Support stuff just becomes unimportant 95% of the time. Your tree is not bad, I think the crit multi wheel and the 10% nodes are a waste. Crit multi on FT is a gear luxury imo. " Another possibility would be to put out 4 points from somewhere, skill Whispers of Doom and try to support your totem's damage with eg. Firestorm, CoH and two curses. Leave Firestorm at lvl 1 because of AB and to keep mana cost low. Warlord's Mark eg. will grant your totems Life Leech and Endurance charges, Assassin's Mark Power charges. |

Totem durability nodes...!? Heh...IMO, they are an unsightly disgrace. Begone with them, I say. The best those nodes are going to do WHEN IT COUNTS is buy you 1.5 extra seconds to resummon. So why not just increase cast speed instead?
Btw I didn't catch if you're using Soul Mantle or not, but if you aren't, I'd recommend that you do. I ran totems in 75+ maps and didn't have a problem except vs ele reflect mobs even while my poor little totems were shocking themselves via maligaro's restraint. |
