So effectively giving you +25% AR (overcapping by 25 instead of 50 for EW maps).

That's something to be factored in, I suppose, for people weighing up the res value.

It's life and mana ON HIT, meaning, if you hit a monster, you get a SET amount of mana and life back. Combine that with an AOE though, you'll get back anything you use and more.

Life on hit are effected by the skills "damage effectiveness" Heavy strike have 125%, that makes 20 life on hit be 25 life on hit.
if an item have 50% damage effectiveness, 20 will give 10.

cyclone for example, have 40%. that makes 20 life on hit be 8 life on hit for each mob you hit.
(but cyclone hits 2 times its "attack speed" so its damage effectiveness is really 80%)

THIS is the reason i ask about mana on hit.

Mana gain on hit doesn't have scaling, and neither should the Life Gain on Hit. It's only the Life Gain on Hit Support Gem that scales with Damage Effectiveness. Equipped LGoH still functions fine.

(And, in turn, this means that a max LGoH roll of this ring is stronger than a Life Gain on Hit support gem with Lightning Arrow between the levels of 30 and 57.)
