Rain and Load Times
" 1. ) I dont have this problem at all so assuming that it's an issue just because you have it is a flawed and dumb assumption. 2. ) Excuse me but what people ? Are you talking in the name of the majority of PoE players ? Post specs please ! Graphical weather effect issues and area loading times with weather effects on are indeed hardware and software related ! 3. ) My PC was something around 1200 euro only a half year ago and it isn't even high end so I dont think you have a clue about what a high end machine cost or what it means. Anyway grats on your 4 years old PC which in terms of gaming is already outdated ! But you should know that. 4. ) If Dirk can play the game just fine on a 500 euro machine, and you dont then I think you have no idea how to maintain your PC. At some points you have to update your drivers, clean your PC or reinstall Win etc. |

" Thanks for summarizing ^ that. :) So, here it goes: I got my PC right around the D3 release so everyone can do the math on how old it is. I didnt build it myself, i just checked the specs and posted them on the D3 forum because at the time that was the game it had to be able to run. I was told it would run it just fine by several people and i bought it. If my PC can run it with the rain just fine and those "high end" expensive PCs cant then maybe people that have the issue should talk to their PC manufacturer or try to not always build their PC on their own, because if people do that they can only blame themselves, not GGG and not a PC making company. People that have this issue should look into their hardware, post specs and let GGG and other players tha dont have the rain issue tell them whats wrong. |

" But it's not just me that had it... " Google/Forum search is your friend if you're that interested. " It was 2 years old, not 4. " Just wow...do you blame rape victims for wearing the wrong clothes as well? My drivers were up to date, tried multiple version. Did a clean install, updated bios, unlocked more cores, overclocked both CPU and GFX. Nothing solved the issue. Prior to the rain being added I had no issues what so ever with the performance of the game but after my CPU was at 100% load for 2-5 minutes after entering a zone with rain. So tell me genius what do you think caused it, my PC becoming obsolete over night or the changes GGG put in? Since then I have solved the issue by upgrading MB and CPU and simply brute force it away. Can still see a spike in load when entering rain zones though even if it doesn't affect me in a negative way as my i7 don't care and just powers through. " you said " late 2011 / early 2012". It's early 2015. So at least 3 years. That's still old for a PC |
|
" Ofc it's not only you. There are a lot of people with slow and bad PC's which cant run the game properly. You said that your PC was build somewhere between 2011/2012 and its already 2015. If your CPU is at 100 % when doing anything not just playing PoE then something is probably very wrong with your CPU. My CPU never ever reaches more than 30 - 35 % of load. Answer me please three very simple questions : 1. ) Why you have this problem and I don't ? 2. ) What new games have you tried to run on your PC which were running smooth and on a very high settings ? 3. ) Post your specs finally so everyone can see that it's PoE's fault and not your PC's ? We ( who doesnt have this problem with weather effects ) really want to believe you. Dont think I am here to blame any of you, just prove me wrong please that this issue is not PC related but GGG's fault. Just because PoE doesnt have graphics like FarCry 4, doesnt mean you can run it on an old outdated PC like many of you think. Also note that PoE's performance on a 64 bit Windows is way better than on a 32 bit version. Your i7 wont save you if you have a low amount of RAM or a bad CPU cooling Also please let me quote myself " Last edited by MegaTen_IV#3375 on Jan 28, 2015, 6:57:02 AM

And here we are again - those who do have performance issues are labeled guilty, without explicitly knowing their story, their background and skills.
Nothing new on this forum. For a second - you all try to pretend that you know a thing or two about empathy. Now. If those players that were expelled for being guilty of having "non-compliant PC" instead of listening to their feedback - if those players instead of leaving would like, enjoy and support the game. Would it not benefit ALL of you? So, now - admit it. Game performing poorly IS a problem of us all, no matter how "expensive" your rig really is as long as this game relies on players supporting the game. We all know that this is a small company that decided to write their own engine. I respect that. It is having and will have performance issues, I accept that. I am just not convinced that everything that could be done to address performance has been done (particles are one fine example). |

" Sorry but NO. Won't admit something that is absolutely NOT true. My game is NOT performing poorly at all ! Speak for yourself. Last edited by MegaTen_IV#3375 on Jan 28, 2015, 6:59:47 AM

" That means nothing compared to other areas though. People can't play without Rain so how is this a fair comparison? People can only compare it against loading into other zones, which take less time. It's a very poor test if that is all they did. |

The problem wasn't the crossroads. Load up to the dominus room in palace 100x and see how many times you get booted out. That's my issues with rain, the fact it burns a portal in the palace.
I don't play on a potato either, its not top of the line but its higher end; no reason I should ever get booted for graphics, but it happens like clockwork 2-3x per dom room in palace. |
