What is and what isn't considered cheating?

Actually a bit curious about this now. How does GGG feel about a [Removed by Support] that works strictly off pixel reading, and contains no automation in regards to the client itself? Could display a big "ALT+F4!!!" across your screen if the image of the life bar matches what you have in your library, but it wouldn't log you out. Is this acceptable?

you might be on to something...

me im just on something...
I dont see any any key!

Meh, I'm well into a bottle of Buchannan's myself. Still, fiddling with a little AutoIT script sounds rather fun. The game, not so much. If I could enhance a few peoples enjoyment of the game, and GGG doesn't get all 1938 germany about it, it might be worth some effort.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.

If we do want to get technical it's still a form of automation that still granted an advantage over other players who chose to follow the rules and play without a 3rd party software "assistance" which is not part of the client.

In your example a 3rd party program is acting as a monitoring bot over your hp bar, and puts out warning without you having to pay attention to your own life bar like other legit players. You can literally faceroll like you have always been and hit one macro to alt-F4 when the bot display a warning in the middle of your screen.

Same argument can be used for special coloring/sounding overlay on specific drops, be it a currency or a unique. Other players will have to pay attention and spending time looking at their screen or hear drop sound effects more carefully than you do because they don't run a pixel scanning bot like you do.

For example, you and I are both in an 8 hour race. I am spending 0.5s more time everytime a pack is killed to not miss out on any valuable drops, on the other hands you just blaze thru everything and only stop to loot when your bot produce a "currency" or "unique" sound effect... I dont know if you ever played short races, but a pixel scanning bot or currency recoloring provides huge advantages in terms of time... same way a inventory sort bot user vs a clean player especially in a short race which GGG said to be illegal. ALSO an overlay can also track on drops you otherwise cannot notice... eg a mob you killed 3 screens away with a stray arrow from your tornado shot dropped a shav's SCREENS away... its not in the path where I am running toward and I would've missed it but your bot would have warned you about it... get it?

I think changing item colors and MAYBE altering sound effect should be allowed to all players not just 3rd party pixel scanning bot users... this will minimize the advantages these type of bots provides.
The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.

Welcome to PoE.

What about inventory/stash auto-sorters? Not allowed or allowed? It provides basically no advantage then other players other then minimal convenience.

The day I decided to finally organize my HC stash. That was hell. Let me tell you. 3-4 hours straight. Hundreds of stash tabs. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

In a temp league or say, a 1 week race, this means the guy with the sorter has a distinct advantage in time saved. It'd be nice if GGG could implement a global utility like this, but, until they do, which would guarantee universal availability, it's against the rules. ='[.]'=

I think if GGG stated something along the lines of "We'd like to implement a stash sorter, and want to see how much community SUPPORT there is for this - and YES, it would work for Guild Stashes" the response would be overwhelming.

One of the things I dislike about the temp leagues is the head on stash collisions at the end. If the new leagues get any shorter, I'd be tempted to avoid them altogether and just wait for content to come to Standard league.

These still won't make it any easier to fish in PoE.

If nothing else, this violates the spirit of the rules. Eventually, there will be physical robots that can watch the screen, use the mouse and keyboard and play the game. They would probably be against the rules, unless somebody made it illegal to discriminate against robots enjoying their free time away from the factory assembly line.

Heck, at some points the robots may vote to make it illegal for humans to play video games, because that would be cheating. Humans need to be careful what we wish for. The easy way is rarely the best way.

I'd assume this will be just behind the trading system in development.

When exactly is hell scheduled to freeze over?

Lol.

Would some sort of overlay be acceptable, if it doesn't modify the client? Like a program that 'sees' the crappy color of currency better than I, then puts bright purple over that spot so I can actually see that shit? Read only stuff? Even if it has to be 'pixel read only'?

Well, that is a client modification by definition, right?

Not at all. The client wouldn't be touched. A program like autoit could easily read the pixels on the screen without a glance at the memory. Not sure if autoit could render the new graphic on a separate window that resides above the PoE window, but I'm sure something could be figured out.

EDIT: Actually, looks like it could. https://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/docs/libfunctions/_GDIPlus_GraphicsDrawImage.htm

Might be neat to play around with building a crude loot filter. All the white and blue garbage would still be there, but at least currency and 3l R-G-Bs could be highlighted.

stop using autoit, start using real programming language. visual c or c# is way more worth everyone's time..

This is why they prefer reddit over this forum, idiotic comments like "when does hell freeze over?", in april hell will freeze over, duh, then comes act 4 and most likely the new trading system.
