[NO REFUND] Dyadian Dawn returns!
There is no excuse. You bought the pack 14 months ago.
GGG should feel ashamed. And someone mentioned earlier, there has been 115/360 uniques made so far. Correct me if im wrong but the first unique would have gone into production on 23rd october 2013 (release day/end of diamond pack) If that is true that means they have done 115 uniques in 455 days. Making an average of 4 days per unqiue. With 245 uniques left to make it would take 980 days at the current rate for completion. That would be September 26th 2017 This is mostly conjecture from me, and i'd love for people to correct any mistakes on the timeline i've made. adania/93 --- ElementalNecro/91 --- GwanSauceMan/90

" I have been waiting for the next supporter packs actually. Is it coming right before or after Act 4? |

$300 is a lot of money to me. I didn't spend that thinking I was going to be playing for a few months.

@dlrr's first post:
I think what u did is correct. after all you are one of the main pillars this game was funded with. But GGG are not in control of things anymore I feel....as if it's slipping away... “Human decency is not derived from religion. It precedes it.”

Personally, I went into this knowing that the unique creation process would take a large amount of time, and that there was many pitfalls for it. I am an Eternal supporter and not a Diamond supporter, so I'm second generation in that regard.
With that in mind, my mindset for it was that I quickly sent an email (to Rory at the time, it was later handed off for Nick to finish), but I didn't expect it to be a quick or simple process. Rory was initially very responsive and we sparred about details, mostly being ideas I had that was unfeasible or overpowered, and eventually I found that it was better to detail the idea of the item and let Rory come up with ideas that fit the concept, polishing it from there. It varied from being regular emailing to long periods with no reply, but I never blamed GGG for this. They in the meantime had several large releases and being a software developer myself I know how deadlines are. I will admit at times I was getting a bit frustrated with the pace and the way some of my ideas were being shot down quickly, but this is GGG's game, and I respect that they have to have final say on whether they find something suitable for their game or not. In the end I felt the process of the final polishing and finishing the project went very well, and I was pleased that it made it into the 1.3.0 release (it's the Broken Crown). I was also kinda bummed out I didn't get atleast a slightly larger version of my forum avatar that I could easier use for other forums, skype avatar, etc, but reading the explanation in this thread that is quite understandable too. I think what would made it better from my perspective would be if there was a somewhat predictable timeline to expect regarding a unique item that was obvious before buying the supporter pack, and in addition a very strict template with "this is what we need to know from you, and this is how the process will work from there". But I don't think any sort of player-driven design process can ever be completely smooth, so all things considered I don't think GGG did a bad job at this. Could it been a smoother/faster process? sure, but given the priorities they made between new content for the game and player-designed uniques I think their decisions seem fair. It was a mistake on GGG's part to offer things like avatars, user designed uniques and the like in exchange for support/donation money.
For GGG's sake, and for the sake of those of us who care about the future of the game, I hope they can satisfy the demands they've burdened themselves with, and never venture down that path again. |

" I think this pretty much sums up a lot of the frustrations I faced! It's the uncertainty that really bothers. By the way, I find your unique most intriguing! Care to share how you envisaged it? Is it meant to be a PVP low-life suicidal build? Thanks! :) I can imagine the Hall of Grandmasters being an even scarier place with your little creation... Heh. | |
" It was designed to be used for low life without needing Shavs or Lorica, if you have a life pool big enough that ~35% is enough to keep you alive with enough chaos resistance. I have tried a summoner using it recently, and it's working moderately well (only sometimes hard to notice taking chaos damage) The Cast on Death, which is the stat that catches the eye fastest is actually kind of deceptive. It's there to provide a bit of balance (along with the mana regen penalty), in that you can't put all kinds of gems in there. Note that when you die you are considered to be "low life", so the 20% bonus applies to Cast on Death from it. I think it hit the balance point perfectly, seeing as it's kind of awkward to use for any of the more cookie cutter builds: - CI builds have no use for it. - Life builds suffer a penalty because there's no life on it. - Low life gets a lot of mileage out of it, but considering how often Low life is used with wondertrap for magic finding, the lack of magic find on it also makes it less optimal. - Summoners lose a slot for +2 minions. - Mana regen penalty hits AA users, and makes it less interesting for EB users in general. - Lorica users could still use it, but would likely do better with a high ES vaal regalia instead. - Shavs is op no matter what, so doesn't count. It's got some creative ways it can be used though, with the increased damage being without a type, and considering a lot of gems can not be supported by Cast on Death and can be used normally in it. I was happy to see that it got moderately popular with hybrid life/es builds, and that after the first gut reaction of "hate it!" died down on reddit, people generally feel it's an okay unique.
