Mobs that are ridiculous
I'd also vote for Devourers to be the most stupid monster ever made. I mean seriously, what kind of design concept is behind them ? The are invisible most of the time, they hit like a truck, they have high HP, they are pretty much unstopable with GMP.
Evangelists on the other hand atleast have a weakspot, which is melee, where they can hardly kill anyone. IGN: Darkrox (not my main, just for easy contact)

" this. balance is really screwed up in this game. case in point- merciless Dom. also too. phylactery is incredibly annoying. not challenging - just annoying. i actually like kole, although really he's just a kite-fest. |

" Thank you :) Although I'd make a terrible leader and clearly dont want to lead anything. |

I'd put Croaking Chimerals (The frog leapers with Arctic Breath) as the top threat, even over Devourers. These fucking things will leap at you, and if you move back even ONE STEP, they will LEAP AGAIN instead of just melee'ing you. And god forbid you have multi-proj ones, say hello to GMP Arctic Breath shotgun. Also, there are usually 5-10 of them that leap at you at the exact same time.. :D

" I used to think merc dom was hard. Now one of my "is this build minimally viable" benchmarks is being able to face-tank both of his forms. |

"this is probably the most dangerous mob in the game for players with low physical defenses. couple it with desync on their leap slam and you have a true monster. the arctic breath that hits like a truck and WILL chill you, is just icing on the cake (yes, pun intended) but I dont think its 'bad'. just 'extremely dangerous'. a pack of chimeras with add phys/powerful crit is scary in any map for builds that dont rely on big physical mitigation for 'bad' monster design, crackbirds will always be #1. Yep, I agree with you. Monster design isn't bad just because the monsters are dangerous. I actually like the large variety of threat in any given map, it keeps you on your toes and makes the game more engaging.
The birds, however, are just bad design because they're not hard to deal with, they're *frustrating* to deal with. They run around way too fast, and run off-screen at the drop of a hat, making full-clears of zones with birds in them difficult. |

"+1 " I agree with the premise, but facetanking his first form is kinda extreme. a lot of builds that are viable, cant quite take the touch of god...or facetank the ghost stream without potting a topaz (or having very high leech+hp pool) |

" he _is_ hard and does make a very good "does this build work?" test. however the fact is that i've had builds which could roll through maps to a pretty high level (71/72) and yet at level 80 would still have trouble with him. my point being he's only a "level 68" encounter, but the jump in the difficulty from the other encounters in act 3 to him is way out of wack. sort of like museum. supposed to be a level 68 maps but those museum bosseswill completely destroy certain builds. |

" Agreed! I took OP's question of "ridiculous" to mean "ridiculously dangerous", not bad design :P. I love the challenges in this game! Edit: There is no better feeling than reacting fast enough to side-step an entire group of frogs leaping to your previous position and then promptly vaporizing them and hearing those croaks :D Last edited by Shmez#2963 on Jan 9, 2015, 5:28:54 PM
