[2.0] Low Budget Crit Tornado Shot Ranger | beginner friendly | great for new and casual players

Thank you for the well written low budget guide! I play solo self found and I learned a lot from reading this (my ts ranger is currently level 83). The section about quality gems was particularly helpful, now I know which backup gems to level before I use the gcp recipe to make quality ones.

I'm currently using split arrow and curse on hit for proj weakness, but I might try assassin's mark and the power charges. Thanks for all the great ideas!

Just wanted to say thank you for the extremely well written and informative guide. It was concise, had everything needed for a new player like me to learn all the tricks. The gem selection portion was particularly helpful and the emphasis on not allowing T1 uber gear into the build was a welcome change from the normal guide.

Thanks again, I'm going to take a bunch of these tips and use them on my TS ranger.

Stay Safe,
Hi, I found something from reddit:

http://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/2vc12n/infractem_bow_pierce_question/

In particular, that thread states that the second form of TS fires projectiles, not arrows, and thus will not work with Infractem's innate pierce. This is supported by the skill gem description "It will then fire projectiles out in all directions from that point."

But also:
"

There's just arrows - one primary arrow which always pierces, and then three other arrows without that piercing property that fire from where the first arrow hits.
Which seems to imply that they are indeed arrows.

Any insight on this?

Hey you two, clarification gives http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1024044 where one patch note item states:

Version 1.2.1
  • Fixed a bug where arrow pierce would not apply to Tornado Shot.

So since then it works.

They're arrows. Infractem applies. So does Drillneck.

Great guide. I just started playing POE about a week ago and I've strictly followed this guide. How high in terms of map tiers can I expect to make with Infractem?

I also realize that without the proper passives, that this build may have locked me into having to rely on an Infractem only, is this correct?

I am probably going to make another Ranger so I can be ready for when I get that sweet, sweet Harbinger ^_^

I kept my Infractem and it killed a lot of lv78 Courtyard and Palace bosses as well as Atziri just fine. I have almost perfect rolls on it (top implicit, 99% IPD, 32-43 flat phys which is just 3 to 2 points off perfect and 247 accuracy) so mine is really, really good but even a mediocre one should suit you fine.

There's a similar one in http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1162909 but with only 31% crit chance. It's 4c so you can grab that, throw on a Blessed and there you go...

Yes with a Harbinger you probably want to spec into pierce nodes and maybe also use the pierce gem to squeeze max potential out of it, especially when you're using Drillneck to boost your damage.

Hope that helps!

First of congrats to the bow. How on earth did you get a 5l Harbinger with a Cruel phys roll when you're new to PoE? Wasn't that dead expensive? Right now I believe the Infractem is slightly better. It has 242 DPS and always pierces versus the 262 DPS of the Harbinger. Crit chance is the same so I don't think that 20 DPS make the Harbinger the better bow. But it is pretty damn close and definitively awesome :D

Your gear is already pretty good. The chest is awesome. How many exalts did it cost you? And how did you get them if you're a new player? I play this game for almost 3 years now and grinding the ex for my chest was a real chore^^

In general all your gear pieces are okish but the life rolls are very low or not existing (on the rings). The belt is pretty decent, I would keep that. But quiver, boots, gloves and your jewellery could use an upgrade. Try to get crit chance and crit multi on the amulet. And since you supposedly have some money in a bank, get a Drillneck for a quiver and Maligaro's Virtuosity as gloves. That should boost your DPS insanely.

Hope that helps...
