Communism vs Capitalism in POE
" I think there is a linguistical barrier here. 'Intelectual' as in 'intelectual person', someone intelligent. I've never read a QQ thread written by someone smart, but rather the usual 12-year-olds with too much time on their hands and little things to do. It's a minority, but it has no reasons nor arguments to make listening to them worthwhile. Hell, go see the QQ threads and you'll know what I'm talking about. If you ask a stupid question, expect stupid answers.
If you post a troll thread, expect troll replies. | |
I prefer Capitalism. Socialism/communism is a cancer and unnatural and will kill the West.
We have more government intervention and redistribution than ever and gap between rich and poor is wider than ever before. Communism is a total fail. Git R Dun! Last edited by Aim_Deep#3474 on Dec 29, 2014, 9:59:21 AM

This "capitalistic" approach you speak of has its downfalls. If someone is overpricing an item worth an estimated 10 chaos orbs for 2 exalted orbs, it merely moves its position on the price curve. There will be less people available to buy his product and it will probably take more time to sell it as the item gathers dust in its owner's stash tab.
The same is somewhat true of the person who sells incredibly cheap: they will see an immediate liquidation of their item to currency without wasting the time to find a buyer. I think the way GGG implements their economy is genius because of the fact that not every item will be set at an exact value. It's very interesting to see the twist in the economy after the change in map drops. It takes more thought and makes the player feel like there is truly an opportunity cost to their purchases. |

I could comment about how stupid is the conception of communism (hint: someone can't separate basic social services from communism) that people have in this thread (although, yes, it's not a good thing), but I want to put my two cents to the true discussion:
Upper price fixing is something that benefits people in this game. It's a price reference (people have an idea of how much to spend trading for something) and self found people have at least options to replace the necessary trade (like Zana selling chisels, even if the price is not good in relationship to the market). Thing is, it can't be heavyhanded, else the items would sell at a price that it's too low for their rarity. Add a Forsaken Masters questline

Just RNG it. When ever you trade an item a random amount of currency will leave your stash.

" That would RMTers the most i bet, with their million ex in the stash. :) |

I just ask the buyers to offer if they offer more than 1C I immediately accept them. or if they offer something reasonable on a decent item Ill accept them too rather than it sits on your stash stub waiting to be dumped on standard :P
