Communism vs Capitalism in POE
What does this game need more? A free market with people being called a scammer if their price is higher than that of others or should GGG somehow cap prices on items and orbs?
BTW, to everyone thinking its a scam if one thing sells for 5 ex and the same thing goes for 10 ex from another player, its all fair. Whoever pays the higher price didnt do their research where the product can be gotten cheaper. What people in POE think is that if some players sell something for 5 ex then thats the set price etched in stone, which isnt the market model this game uses, that would be the communist model. If for some reason RNG would be so kind to give me another tabula and i sell it for a chaos, am i underpricing it? No. Should all be priced that way? Of course not. Now discuss, which market model do you prefer? Are there any other market models you can come up with? |

if people sell it lower than me, they're using bots en masse

Trading is central to the game. That should tell you enough.

" Communism isn't a "market model". What are you talking about is prices regulation. GGG doesn't need to do anything, because the market regulates itself. Mostly through shop indexers - which are the best tools against "scamming". Which is really not "scamming", but shrewd salesmanship. When night falls

Americans and their black&white view for everything. There is no capitalism in this game, socialistic economy either. This is feudalism, and trading is one huge marketplace where you can buy what you like for a price you want. And to get flipped and scammed too. If any other economy system is present, it would be under ggg's control. Invisible hand theory.
So cut the crap and go play, if you have strength left to do it. |

" It is not the case though. Although I'm sure GGG would say they want players to build the economy themselves and all that, they use a lot of regulating mechanics concerning in game economy : vendor rates, orb/items rarity tiers, master crafting prices, etc. They also take decisions that have a direct impact on the economy, or at least driven towards the economy/taken because of the economy. The fact they removed hybrid phys from crafting benches "because the impact on the economy was too severe" is a prime example of that. The market is clearly not regulating itself in Wraeclast. It's not USSR, but surely not a free market. IGN : @Morgoth Last edited by Morgoth2356#3009 on Dec 29, 2014, 7:32:47 AM
