A summary of Time based events:

Timed based events are new type of event introduced in Race Season 9, they are designed to create a new kind of competitive environment where players compete not by character experience, but by their capabilities to progress through the game and complete specific objectives, such as killing bosses.

The boss required to be defeated for this race is: Merveil, located in The Cavern of Anger.

  • The time recorded is based from the beginning of the race, not when your character is created.
  • Characters will not appear on the ladder until they have completed the objective.
  • Characters are not required to have completed the time based objective in order to receive points for the other objectives, such as points awarded for reaching certain levels.
  • Characters who die after completing the objective, will still be counted for receiving reward points except for the level-specific prizes.
  • Points are awarded at the end of the race, do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.

Last race a lot of people were asking what's good level for facing Brutus/Merveil. Here's my take, aimed at melee:

Brutus
- Lv 9 safe-T-mode
- Lv 8 ideal
- Lv 7 doable
- Lv 6 pro's only

Most players choose both starting passive nodes for their class as they usually offer good value. Assuming this, at level 8 you will have access to your first Notable Passive that will give a stat boost and allow you to equip a significant weapon/armour upgrade. The Dweller in the Deep quest gives a passive point so you can deduct 1 from these numbers if you did that side quest although most people skip it in a race.

Likewise if you skipped one of the starting passives you could also deduct 1 from the numbers, but doing both this and Dweller to face Brutus at Lv 6 brings up the problem of weak gear options and enemy damage scaling against you due to their significantly higher level. TLDR they will hit a lot harder, hence pro's only.

Merveil
- Lv 12/13 = ideal
- Lv 11 = hard
- Lv 10 = extremely dangerous

When you reach the Cavern of Anger waypoint and talk to Nessa, she gives you a Lv12 skillgem. While you may not be level 12 when you get this off of her, you'll want to be 12 with a 2L by the time you face her as the gem is usually a big upgrade for your main skill.

Merveil is a resistance fight. Having 2 sapphire rings will make a big difference to having 1, and a HUGE difference to having none. These rings are available at level 11, so killing her at that level is doable, but hard without the added Lv12 support skill. Likewise, fighting her at level 10 or lower will mean you have no resistance rings and will very easily die.

Hope this helps some newbies, good luck!
Thanks, that was a well thought out explanation.
Merveil shall taste my steel! (in 90 mins or less) (assuming I can keep myself awake for another 39 mins) (if I don't rip before or during her)

Got to lower prison relatively fast, but got lost in lower and upper. Made up some time in caverns and luckily didn't die to exploders in anger.

God I suck at prison layouts >.<. Really should've gotten top10. MS off vendor 2gud.
Someone must teach me the "layout ways" theres atleast 3 zones each Merv race that are stupid as fk and i always get lost when same people always finish top5 :(
@CabooseDog
Exploding spawn leapslam desync in Caverns lol

Not blaming desync at all btw. I was leapslamming in a way that rubberbanding was highly likely so not too surprised that I died midair
Don't forget to hold shift while leapslamming ;) it won't prevent 100% of those desyncs but it helps a lot if you pair shiftslamming with a /oos macro.
