board game recommendations

I'm after a board game recommendation. Something that has rpg elements and randomness to it (Eg through random loot and monster encounters). Something with strategy elements too.
Not something that you need to PhD to play, ideally easy to pickup and play. Thanks. |

Edit: I think something like Talisman, which I played a bunch with my step brothers growing up...

Battlestar Galactica is a personal favourite, and you can use the themes of it to rollplay a bit, but it isn't a role-playing game. It's semi co-op.

For years i searched for deep truths. A thousand revelations. At the very edge...the ability to think itself dissolves away.Thinking in human language is the problem. Any separation from 'the whole truth' is incomplete. My incomplete concepts may add to your 'whole truth', accept it or think about it

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game is relatively easy to play and comes in a board game format even though it is, obviously, a card game. Full of random encounters and loot and character development. It's co-op.
I'm Chimerical Jim. Softcore. Hardcore. Manticore.

Talisman is all but obsolete at this point, there are hundreds of better games nowadays.
Most random loot fantasy board games aren't simple. And the simple ones usually aren't very interesting. Mage Knight Board Game is everything you want, except it all but requires a PhD. Runebound is not bad, and a lot simpler. Not so simple that it isn't interesting. I think Eldritch Horror is a very nice one. Fits the description pretty well.
