Concern regarding the Acuity nerf

So, a much needed nerf to a pair of gloves that was a bit too good. Yes I agree with that.
But this nerf is doing something else besides nerfing an item. It puts the player in a position where s/he can not trust the integrity of value in items. Before this point you have always preserved items as they were, making them legacy. But now you nerf existing items so they drop below half of their original value. I spent hard earned currency to acquire these gloves. I trusted my investment would not turn out to be a total spoil. In the future, all high end items will be a no-go for me, you never know if they suddenly drop to the point where they are pocket change. I also think I am not alone with this thought. They did this to COE as well, we knew it could happen and it did. As with all investments, no one are never really safe. You always take a risk.
The nerf to Acuitys was well deserved. I have always done build with Acuitys, and the item is too good. From the moment they went rough on VP and released Acuity, I knew it wouldnt be forever. Silsamazing - lvl 100 Witch

isn't investments all about reading the markets , evaluating the risks and anticipating changes and fluctuations before they happens ?

Item can change in values easily and quickly.
I assume you have never played during beta... did you know Lion's Heart used to worth 5ex+? now its more like 5chaos... Wake of Destruction boots used to worth 3ex+ now moire like 3 chaos Thunderfist gloves used to worth 5ex+ now maybe 5chaos a little more for legacy version but still less than 1ex. What's funny tho? GGG didnt even really nerf the above mentioned items cept for thunderfist... Should I ask for my exalts back when GGG decided to fuck with elemental attack builds during 1.0? The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. If an item is insanely overpowered you can trust that it'll be nerfed. You should expect more nerfs to acuity in the future.

You found orbs and traded orbs for more orbs i take it and maybe some items and then bought the acuity thingy. So, its pixels for pixels for more pixels. With numbers on them and some text. So, why not think before making a thread like this? You know GGG made POE, you know games go through balance cycles every now and then and you know any and all items, even if they were previously untouched could be changed at any given time. |

At least you can trust mirror gear or your own crafted gear. \^^/ but you are right, these nerfs make the market even crazier. Actually doing a budget build is fun too, but will be hard to enjoy the high end maps with ease. Standard is good for people who like to collect things. One of the reasons i enjoy this game is to collect, stacking currencies make me feel happy. I like collecting stamps too btw. LOL
