Acuity is not worth 200 ex

deal with it

I am dealing with it right here. Posting my opinion that it's a BS price for this item and that it's not worth even a chunk of it. You deal with that. :-)

I'd like to point out that noone has made a compelling case yet, explaining how Acuity is a must-have item so one must sell all he owns to obtain it right away.

I also would like to read an explanation from all the self-proclaimed economics professors around here which would explain why if the supply is so low and the demand so high, the price stopped at 200 ex. Why isn't it increasing as we speak? Will it be 300 ex in a week? Maybe you should buy all the one hundred 200 ex Acuities out there and sell for 300 later, if you so believe in your own argument?

You think an item's price should be dictated solely by its power level. This isn't how the economy in PoE works though, the price depends on several other things. You are also mixing up the price YOU think is appropriate and the price the item is actually selling for. I don't really understand what you're trying to argue about here. An item is worth what it sells for. There's no way around that statement.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

And that is what makes it very deadly. The super rich can control the economy this way, and if there is enough circulation in buying/selling in whatever price these "super rich" place the item in, it will be worth that much. Like you state it, "an item is worth what it sells for."

Edit: There is nothing wrong with the statement, but there is no control in pricing because we are using a bartering system. The idea of capping the value of an item will never happen.

but when RMT exists... players create unrealistic prices for items .... thus making it possible for only people that RMT to acquire such items... or people that get extremely lucky and find 2 - 3 shavronnes wrappings.

Point is... without solid price infrastructure.... you can expect Whack prices for all the good idems because RMT exists... and so long as there are no set prices... RMT will force items like Acuity to be super expensive

it has nothing to do with how rare it is.... there are some items that are super rare not even worth an ex. it has to do with the fact that it turns you into god.

Auction House would definitely help lower the prices of acuitys.. but that alone wouldnt be enough... youd have to shut down all the RMT sites so that people would not be able to ask/offer such retarded prices for items

When the bottom line is ... you will never see this item because
A. you are not lucky enough or
B. you dont play enough (requiring 16 hours of play time a day for over a year is too much.)
C. You refuse to RMT to acquire a 200 ex item.

Something is wrong.... every person should be able to eventually see every item the game has to offer.... why play a game if you might never get the best item.... its silly. there has to be some sort of guaranttee for these godly items or else people can play for months and still not even be a quarter of the way towards any of these items.. and that sucks for most people.. so acquitys and all the other expensive items will remain in the hands of the rich and lucky. By rich i mean people who RMT and by lucky i mean people who found 2 - 3 shavronnes.

Still waiting for OP to sell everything he owns on Standard to link a pair here but sadly I don't think his wealth accumulated so far has amounted to much... If any... And back to the question of "How many people are actually buying them for 200ex?" I believe they're probably the most liquid piece of gear in the game since I've bought and sold 3-4 pairs over the past few weeks (whilst being indecisive about finally quitting this game cause of getting unmotivated to play)

Well:

1. I don't see uber farmers begging in the streets for a dime to buy a loaf of bread.... Look at I_NO a couple pages back, he paid 280 ex for a mirrored bow, he seems to be doing just fine? Don't tell me 200 ex price is a form of charity to help those poor people that have atziri builds? :-)

2. Vertex is 3-5 ex. Splendour is 3-6 ex. Disfavour is 5-12 ex. Acuity 200 ex?

3. So what if the farmer is unlucky, the price should originate in the item's quality, not farmer's lack of luck in RNG. I somehow never found... Kaom's Roots for example, doesn't make them 200 ex.

4. Speaking of item's actual quality, 200 ex for a pair of gloves that (as the only attempt to defend the item itself stated) "help crit builds with reflect a little" is still nuts, you have to admit as much.

Players determine the price, not you. You cannot even claim that it is fake market infaltion either because there are people like me who are really willing to pay that much to get an acuity.
