Died to Strongbox lag and suggestions so this never happens again
" That's great, Mark. The thing is, though, really this needs to be a factor before, not after. You guys do some great work, but it is always overshadowed by doing this great work as if certain problems didn't exist. I'd love to see content added, from now on, that is designed for PoE as it is, not for PoE how it ideally would be. Strongbox design might work great on paper, it might work great in a situation where there are no bottlenecks, performance issues, with the perfectly suited hardware, internet, etc. That doesn't help the reality of things. Continuing to improve preloading just means until the time when x state is achieved, strongboxes don't work as planned. What to do? Well, we make them so they do work with what we have. Currently they do not really work to portray risk reward in that the player faces a risk from monsters and has to use skills to escape and defeat those monsters and claim a reward. Currently they are a free piñata (or not depending on what they drop -_-) with no risk involved whatsoever unless something happens like an escape skill fails or the game freezes etc due to factors that are not meant as part of the design. The 'risk' is not the box, the monsters, the risk is something failing. That something is not currently the player ability. If the possibility of a game freeze isn't being removed, yet, simply add a delay after clicking the box. It doesn't need to be much, but a delay so that a player can actually use escape skills (twice if needed due to skill failure) and if there is a game freeze then the player is not stuck defenceless in a pack of monsters. It doesn't remove player skill, currently if a box opens without lag and a skill doesn't fail, no one above the capability of a chimpanzee can mess it up. It isn't hard, it never was, never has been, it is only 'please don't glitch'. Now, buff the monsters, buff them to high heaven. Make the monsters a threat, as AI, not as glitch. We escaped the box using the skills/methods we are meant to, the gltches have less result on the outcome and the player is rewarded for risk.. defeating the nasty beasties. Casually casual. It is no 'bygone' it is the current mindset of our lead developer, that somehow getting access to Atziri out of the existing end game play (without the corrupted change) was classed as 'free' and bad. While rerolling low lvl zones or simply buying fragments was a design, intentional and good. Regardless.. unless the drop rate of vaal orbs is dramatically upped, the recipe for them dramatically changed or the spawning of cartos increased, the change itself is superficial. It is actually pretty simple to solve the lockbox problem. For the most part it happens when they bring an exile, however there are boxes like those that create ice spikes or other big renders which kill the player. for all purposes it isn't lag, it's suddenly redering too many things and effects at the same time that freezes the game for 2 or 3 seconds.
So how do you solve this problem which I said it was incredibily easy? Simple. When monsters are spawned they have a 3 second invunerabillity time. During this time the monsters will not move or attack... Granted it gives you time to teleport out of the middle and prepare for the fight a little bit better than it would be otherwise but if the box doesn't freezes your game for any longer than a milisecond or two (usually the easy lockboxes don't cause this freeze) you can click elsewhere and still get out before you are mobbed down. So assuming the principle that this remains true then it is no problem with teleports. Ah but what about the freezing traps? They would be useless then... No, just add them 3 extra seconds duration and the effect remains the same. While it's possible to drink a tawing potion, it would have been possible to do so if there was no game freeze and get out anyway. Again, the benefict to the player exists and the lockboxes will be slighty easier by doing this. But the keyword to look for here is slightly. The benefict is minimal in how hard the lockboxes are. But the benefict of having no BS deaths, especially for the people who like to play in the hardcore leagues is huge... Even for those who don't the benefict could be considered huge in how much rage/stress they are spared. Just my two cents. "The heavens burned

Just make strongboxes have a delay before opening, and a countdown timer.
The timer would be bigger enough to guarantee the server delay in case of exile. Or in case of a bad computer. I am softcore tho, and this does not affect me, but I feel the HC pain. Anyway, I agree with you it could be more accessible,but right now, it shouldn't be allowed. Add a Forsaken Masters questline

" I think atziri drop shouldnt be always same uniques. The flood of step and belt is not good either. Imagine what would do the flood of the gloves if uber atziri was more aceesible. They need to lower the drop rate of atiziri, making her sometimes not drop any of these uniques. But lower the difficult of both normal atziri and uber atziri. The gated content has run its course. Open the gates and lower the rewards. Add a new level 81map if you must. Or maybe Hall of grandmaster will fill its role. What about making the strongbox opening 2-staged, you roll it whatever you want, you click once it preloads the thingies (MTXs etc, maybe spawn in the mobs invisible, invulnerable state) it needs and locks the box so it can't change anymore and then next click opens/activates it.
