People really do play in these graphics

I know I will sound like a broken record, but here we are :

In my opinion, this is "our" concern, even if "we" are lucky enough to have steady 70 FPS .

Because the game is losing players due to its unpolished engine, that might otherwise like the game. Player lost = possible donation / income lost.

So, even having 70 FPS myself, the sluggish engine IS my concern, if I care for this free 2 play game (and I do)

Screenshots and streams without rain would lose (or not get in the first place) way more players.

Sounds questionable? Yeah but this seems to be GGGs stance.

Fair enough argument.

In my personal reality the story went the opposite direction, though. I introduced about 10 people to PoE and they all quit due to technical problems with the game (namely - FPS drops in party play). And it was even before the sexy Dominus blood rain crisis.

I do not claim that my experience is demonstrative in any way, I guess the number of player PoE could lose by allowing switching off particles is impossible to enumerate. But I can precisely enumerate how many players the game lost due to not allowing it.
to open strongboxes

btw runescape has way more players than poe lol

I don't think its a good argument. I'm with you on this one.

What really bothers me is that cheaters can turn off the rain with 3rd party tools. It's like when you buy a movie and have to watch a long anti piracy video before the actual movie while pirates can just enjoy the movie.
you guys dont even know that this only reduces loading times (good for races) but not your actual fps (and yes i tried this out, after realizing that i had as bad fps after doing that)
Racers gonna race.

Dat load time.

I bet if I did this it would give me another 3+mins in farm time.
Why are there sausages on the floor.
The main reason some people use this mode is so the game doesnt crash constantly on 32bit systems. It reduces memory overhead a fair amount, and keeps you from hitting the wall. Its one of a group of methods used to make this still playable on low memory systems.

The guy who can play skyrim on max but needs this for his system likely has some other underlying issue with his machine (likely overheating) since from what ive seen POE does generate a lot of heat. Otherwise, there really isnt any other valid explanation for that kind of behaviour other than hardware issues.
HAIL SATAN!
