Maybe its just turned-off to low for racing to avoid desync? :)

Yea, but all end-s up to your pc - at home i turn off shadows to get +/- ok game, at work I have all maxed out to get eye-candy.

Bahaha.

Be polite.

Not everyone has the means to afford a nice enough computer to run PoE at a moderate graphics setting.

Why? Of course it's because they don't have any other choice. To avoid lag because their computer isnt really that good. You shouldn't insult other players for not being able to afford expensive computer..
Race? Season points? Nah. Not my thing.

The game engine is what we should be laughing at, dear sir / madam!

On my previous computer, I could play Skyrim on highest settings, but I had to play PoE in this mode.

BTW, to get such nice Runescape retro, you have to manually edit a config file, you cannot even achieve it by ingame settings :)

The hilarious part is that these settings do next to nothing to improve performance in the vast majority of situations, yet people do it anyway for lack of any alternative.

I'd wager that options like "disable atmospheric effects", "reduce particle count" and "simple ground effects" would net a much better looking and performing game for thousands of players but oh well...[insert snarky comment regarding "immersion" at single-digit framerates]
well, if GGG would be kind to implement a particle FX option in their ingame option, people could play with nice graphic while shutting down those lag inducing rain/smoke/spells effects. In the game state right now, you need high-end graphic card to play it.

I suspect GGG don t do it simply because their engine is kind of bad and the programmer they have would need months to find a way to do it.
