Logging out/alt+f4 to escape death in hc
" but you guys see only the intentional alt-f4 usage...what happens if your pc blue screen or when your cat will have some talk with the router? you lose your char cause of the damn BSOD and cat? in the end you can CHOOSE not to alt-f4...after all is my and your character that will die in the HC When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself

It seems alt+f4 doesn't instantly disconnect you anymore. Yesterday I alt+f4 with character at half health, and when I logged in back again, character was in default league.

Alt-F4 is not instant DC since some time ago, it's just some bullshit that has been going around. There is a delay between when the server stops receiving client data and the actual 'disconnection' of the game character. And in this delay, in this game, your character will most likely die.
Esc + Log Off is instant thought, just like TP's out/in (or should be in theory). And yes, the game is balanced around that feature. Last edited by knac84#3886 on Feb 7, 2013, 9:11:33 AM

Logout is instant, portals and zone transitions arent (yet) though theyre apparently supposed to be. Threads crop up about HC characters dying during portal and zoneout attempts every day.

" Really? I will qualify that I am in not in HC. However, like most people...I hate losing exp on death....especially when I am close to leveling up. Last night my mouse decided to flake out when I was at 98% of a level...to the point where my character was uncontrollable. If I didn't hit ALT-F4...I would have been dead. Are you sure hardware malfunction isn't enough reason to have an escape from penalty? I sure do. |
