I love this game however there is one thing that I can't stand, and that is all the moaning about desync.

I recently moved house and have a terrible internet connection and constantly have to deal with desync, however when I die, I don't blame it on desync, if I died while desynced that's my fault for not being aware of what was happening. (ie noticing the signs of desync).

To be perfectly honest I will only be able to play this game while desync exists (read the development manifesto for more info).

due to my shitty internet speeds I (also the devs on some days) could not play poe due to my ping and crappy speeds. so for me and probably the devs (living in New Zealand) I would quit this game as soon as they changed to one of the other options as it would make it pretty unplayable for me.

Finally the main reason I hope it never gets changed is Poe is the game GGG wants it to be, as soon as the 'fix' desync then it no longer is, and I will no longer play.

also for those people who don't think that other games have desync think again.
The source engine has horrible desync (as can be seen when viewing the client side and server side versions of events simultaneously) however they can re sync a lot more frequently as there are less items to resync, how ever the main difference is that they trust the client so there is a big problem with hackers, for this reason GG has said the will never trust the client.

just my 2 cents
Cheers
Mac

In my opinion people have a right to moan about this. Especially considering this game's experience penalty on death - which is very punishing at higher levels.

And I don't get why you think it's the player's fault for not being aware when lag or desync gets them killed. There isn't much you can do when the game suddenly decides to teleport you to a random and dangerous location on the map. And it's impossible to be aware of something like that.

They need to either fix it or scrap the experience penalty so dying isn't such a big deal. One or the other.

It was present in 2012 when I joined this community and started to play this game. Every friend of mine who was upset being D3 a bad game moved back even if its worse because they didnt liked the desynch issue. The truth is that after 2 years I did the same. I just couldnt handled the terrible desynchronization which was even worse after the Forsaken Masters expansion release.
I also wanted to upgrade my supporter pack to Master supporter, but I spent that money to buy an unnamed expansion pack and join my friends because none of them is playing this game anymore. I love to see improvements like the portal effect finally supports maps and the new MTX and mechanics, but it is nothing compared to this huge issue. I love this game but I just cant play it under these circumstances.
For 2 years I am reading QQ threads about this, I also heard a lot of interviews with Chris and he always say that they are making improvements towards this and they will fix it, but I dont see any improvements at all. It ruins my gameplay and the feeling from it especially when I love to use Cyclone and Leap Slam and 30 % boots with ms flask etc. I will stay on the forums for more news and informations about this, and will move back with love once it is atleast improved.
It's pathetic that desync still exists after all the years/donations this game has had.

It's pathetic that people still think it's as simple as throwing a few thousand dollars at it will make the problem go away.
Agree. PoE desync is conscious choice they make - not that they can't solve it - Desync will always be here playing within parameters GGG feels conformable with.

Learn to deal with it or don't and leave but the constant uneducated whining gets old.

D3 has less desync cause they slowed game way down - nerfed IAS, nerfed infamous rubberbanding WW barbs, cap MS and locate more game on client which lead to some cheats like item duping among other things. Go play that. GGG won't do that as they say.
Git R Dun!

The discussion is not useless, and players should not stop complaining about desync. Desync is a serious flaw in the game, and something that GGG has admitted needs to be dealt with. It's not something anybody should just "shut up and deal with".

The moment we stop complaining about it is the moment it ceases to be a priority, and we'll never see it remedied. We should keep complaining about it until it is no longer around to complain about.

Dealing with desync will make this game absolutely top-notch. Until then, it'll always be the game described as "pretty great, except for that one fatal flaw...".
