6L - 4Ex, Bringer of Rain - 6+Ex
" The 7th link is a gem that is probably useful, but I've never seen it used in any skill setup outside BoR. I'd rather call it a "6.5 Link". The block is 15% and average damage is 25. It comes with two huge drawbacks: no "helmet" (you wear it on your head, but it is basically a chest piece in terms of sockets and protection) and no resists. I know it is great, but a 6L chest is also insanely great. It's more flexible (not limited to two of six gems), it allows for great helmets like Alpha's Howl, it may be a powerful Unique itself, etc. And a couple of months ago, it was: Bringer of Rain: ~4-5 Ex (I both bought and sold s couple for this price) White/blue/semigood-rare 6L chest: ~12-14 Ex (I both bought and sold for this price) Insane 6L chest: no price limit here. ...and there's reason for it to be like this. Other than "it fits into a Fotm build", I see no real reason for BoR to be that expensive. Guess I shouldn't be pulling numbers from my memory, you are right :-).
The drawbacks are what keeps the item in check and make it replacable later on but early into a league worthwile replacements are scarce. These replacements also tend to be about as pricey as a BoR ;-). Of course meta draws into this as well, there are multiple reasons for an item to become cheaper or more expensive. Dirt cheap is relative, the good 6-links still go for exalteds in the two digits while average 6-links are in competition with the corrupted stuff from strongboxes (E: which for some reason took 4 months to become a thing). E: Blind is not commonly used because it has no offensive use, not because it is bad. It's a bit like IIR in that regard: One would like to use it, but not on the main attack/spell. " No 20/20 faster attacks does not beat BOR. I have been experimenting with that everyday since the start of the new update. the damage is a marginal 300 dps difference for most setups. Which is why I use a BOR instead of my tier 2 6L. |

Not that many BoR on xyz, I'm pretty sure GGG has made them much rarer with 1.2.0.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" I commented about this in another topic. It seems like their rarity was switched with Devoto's helmet. That used to be extremely rare and priced for 4+ exa(currently 7~ chaos in rampage). BoRs used to be relatively common but now seem as rare as CoE(or the old devoto). |
