Why is Kripparian not banned??
" Public advertisements don't happen until release is near. Path of Exile is not really advertising at all; their population is from pure reputation. Everything has an open beta, because hey need a large flux to actually test. If they had the closed beta with that small population, nothing would ever get reported and/or fixed, and there is going to still be crashes during the big influx of players. Tests are done now to have the simultaneous stress of a large population, pushing their optimization abilities to the limits and having a bigger source of reports. If it was released, they would WANT a lot more people to play. GGG isn't looking into that atm and already have a HUGE population as it is. They will signify this when their ad campaigns initiate. Furthermore, to clarify, this is in no way an exploit. If you refer to Riot Games and World of Warcraft, a lot of what you would refer as an 'exploit' is just 'clever use of mechanics'. Clever does not necessarily mean it requires wit to perform it, but it's just an altered way of doing things to produce a positive outcome. They end up changing most of it anyway, but they serve no punishment to the player because it was purely the company's fault for having it exposed. Exploiting would be something obviously against code (and written) and the intentional continual use of it. Someone from World of Warcraft got banned from receiving an item named Martin Thunder and using it to clear instances. This happened with another item, but that player reported that he had it, and he served no punishment and was actually given compensation. With your level of complexity, you may not even read this wall of text I have composed, but any further statements you create that disregard this or any post will be deemed ignorant by the rest of us. Peace. |

" would you care to actually rebut any of his points you seem to be ignoring them. How is using a mechanic as it was intended an exploit? If anything it just needs to be balanced a little better. Just admit you were wrong and move on, or if you cant do that just move on. Last edited by derbefrier#6652 on Feb 4, 2013, 9:32:20 PM

" Regarding the abusing mechanics, we don't want players to be second guessing whether they are allowed to make a character in a specific way. As the games high level content requires you to be using the mechanics to your advantage, it would be a bad precedent to set banning some uses of mechanics. If there is an abusable mechanic, like the stun lock, it is on us (the game designers) to make sure it cannot be abused. If we discover that Kripp is trading Path of Exile items for money, we would ban him based on policy. We won't be banning anyone just because they have a D2JSP account. | |
" ok well I am trying to bring attention to this build which needs to be fixed asap. it's not fair that u can perma stun even the BOSS of an entire act so they cannot even fight back. only reason why i think he should have been banned was to give lesson to him and maybe other ppl thinking of abusing game mechanics like this. theres no question this stunlock crap needs to be fixed asap though |

ok thx for official response i have trust in u devs will handle it ect ect
thx u! |

" So, everyone who used dual totems and diamond flasks during beta should be banned too? To "set an example"? Like the guy above you just said, stun is currently working as it was designed to work. If the devs feel this is not working as intended, they will change it. The whole point of these types of games is finding clever tricks like this to do with the game mechanics, it's why nerds like me like games like these. C'mon you could at least try to make the discussion interesting. Closed beta member since: March 19, 2012

whackem wit dat ban stick!

" The yellow post just said they wanted nobody to feel like they were abusing because the mechanic was how it worked... Come on now. |
|
|
the day blizzard removed my diamond armor wizard build was the day i quit diablo3
i shouldnt be punished for thinking out of box and finding out new unique ways to defeat content. |
|
" I should clarify what I said above. We won't punish players (by banning for example) for doing a build like an auto stun one. That doesn't mean we won't change game elements if that build is clearly over powered. We almost certainly be making changes to the something related to being able to get full Stun Threshold Reduction. We will nerf over powered builds, but players shouldn't feel like its somehow against the rules to use and abuse the mechanics of the game. |
