Not entirely true. In games such as path of exile yes, over 60 frames on a 60hz display make little (or no) difference. The game has a fixed camera perspective, no fast camera movements are made, so input lag on the camera makes little difference.
However, switch to a first person game where fast twitch movement is needed (like, for example, counter strike) and 120 frames (or more) actually make a difference.
You can't visually see them, however input response will be much faster, input lag will be decreased, and especially for people with faster reflexes in fast paced games it can make the experience much more comfortable.
How about reading the thread from the beginning? OP has a 60 hertz monitor and wants 120fps, conversation only about this.
And the tears of the screen are not associated with the camera position or something like that. Any image arriving at the monitor is simply 2d picture, for the monitor is no difference between CS and Tetris when PC thing to put 2 frames in place of 1 and PoE is no exception. Try to use the search to relieve.

Never did I imply that it was.
You were the one that came in talking about how 120 frames were a waste on a 60hz screen, I simply stated it wasn't always the case.
Back on topic:
There are a couple of possible scenarios here.
OP has V-sync, wants 120+ frames - Solution = Disable Vsync
OP now has 120+ frames, but has screen tearing - Other than a different monitor, not much can be done about it except limiting it back to 60.
OP has frames, no screen tearing, but still has occasional hiccups - PoE's engine at work. It has many issues, one of which was stated by Ekalindorskii. Not much you can do about it either.
OP has 120+ frames, but the game still feels choppy, like the framerate is low - Possible microstutter. Not much can be done without knowing hardware specs.
