I would hope that GGG are smart enough to not balance around statistical outliers. Give them some credit, will ya?

They nerfed and removed the spawn rate of masters in places where you could relatively reliably find them after one week because of these statistical outliers. This affected everyone else, except the statistical outliers.

Stick around a while, you'll see this with nearly every content patch. There are always very obvious problems that should have never made it "live" if there had been competent testing, either internally or externally, and that get addressed within a week or a year (snapshotting).

They just normalized their appearance. That way there spawn-rate is about the same for any zone. They should have done the same for corrupted areas, but they didn't. In the last patch the appearance of corrupted areas was never decreased only increased. And on release there wasn't really something like that.

Yes the changed the appearance of some strongboxes but that was just necessary, the amount of carthographers was too insane and a +5 chest was just too likely.

The only thing that bugs me a bit is that they often wait too long to fix such stuff. I think they should be able to fix a lot of such things server-side without requiring a patch for the client. They should have fixed City of Sarn a long time ago, I was really surprised they left it open for so long.
Good luck getting tonnes of health issues in the future by playing 30 hours straight.

From what I've seen in Beyond, everyone and their grandmother were running circles around Tidal Island instead of playing the game, that nerf seemed warranted to me.

Sure, there are many things that irk me in PoE. But hey, it's just a f2p game (a rather good one, but still), I don't expect much.

1 - explain to me how some people running in circles affect YOUR gaming session.
2 - Fun is relative. I may have fun mapping, other may find it fun to run in circles.
3 - It's just an f2p game. One that has been praised by all news outlet that reviewed it. One that is constantly been updated and offered new content without charging a single dime. Look at D3 for example. People had to pay for the game, for the expansion and wait for 2 years before it had a semblance of endgame.

Doesn't matter. What matters is, if it affects GGGs visions of how their Game should be played.

So go ahead and do it, what's stopping you? They haven't closed Tidal Island, you can still go there if you really do find it fun. Except that most likely you do not, and only wanted to exploit the small area size to minmax your chance for master encounters. And GGG apparently do not like that.

Which they should think of before they release content patches. I'd rather wait an extra few weeks than have stuff getting nerfed or altered substantially a week or two after a content patch. I feel that unless I exploit things like Tidal Island (I didn't) right away, I face disadvantages. It's such a recurring issue in PoE, too: Exploit the stuff out of everything or get left behind.

They should get some of the exploiters and "statistical outliers" from the community and make them alpha testers. I think those alpha testers they do have are more of the casual, social type, but to find these issues you need the really hardcore bunch.

Well they released these kind of contents which are bound to force some people like OP here to farm like crazy just like the vaal areas where people just map hack the shit out of that place just to farm midnights. Isn't surprising that they nerf it.
^ Exactly. GGG are releasing content (that has been tested by their internal testers as well as veteran alpha testers). They should have some feedback about the daily grind. After all, the game is meant to be played and enjoyed.

I still say that spawn rates should be handled dynamically. Areas being overfarmed should have their rates lowered, and areas being ignored by the masses should have their rates increased.

I like this idea. It's also economical.
